Strokes Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 My daughter met Nicky Morgan yesterday, hasn't stopped talking about her since. I'm not sure exactly what she was doing at their school but it's nice that she visits and interacts with them.
Rincewind Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 He also did the same for a bill that would allow carers free parking at hospitals.. A bit more debatable probably but many carers are full time spouses and cost of parking can be expensive for them.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 Show me a media outlet that is? Irrespective of whether we can or will pay the money back it seemingly costing us a lot in the quality of life and it's still shows that there's not much new as i said. My taxes pay towards the BBC, hence more annoying
Guest Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 My taxes pay towards the BBC, hence more annoying Your taxes are going to pay for Cameron's jet, they pay for immigrants accommodation, they pay for unemployed to smoke cigs, they pay for bankers to be bailed out. I wouldn't worry too much about the small amount of money you play not to have to rely on Sky for your news and programming
Webbo Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 You buy the Daily Mail or The Guardian you know what you're getting. They don't pretend to be neutral and you're not forced to buy them. If you have a Tv you're forced to pay for the BBC by law. They have a duty to be impartial and not just represent the views of the metropolitan establishment.

Yet all shades of the political spectrum accuse the BBC of being biased. I'd suggest a lot of it is down to the bias of the accusers.

You know what you're getting with the BBC too. Definitely the best national broadcaster in the world. And they use your money to make great programmes and films. If you're against the BBC you really don't know how good you have it. And you help create jobs in Britain.

No.matter how small my taxes contribute, actually it's not such as small amount, however it doesn't make it right

I think I would pay for the bbc if I had the choice, i don't think it's right that we don't get the choice though.
bovril Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 BBC is the greatest 'soft power' tool the UK has, after Jamie Vardy.

I'm not anti BBC I just they were less biased or if they can't be , let's a right biased news alternative.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 I'm not anti BBC I just they were less biased or if they can't be , let's a right biased news alternative. BBC are scum of a organisation, whether they are the best or not is irrelevant. I prefer the US media, at least you know where you stand. With the BBC, its all deception and lies
Spiritwalker Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 I'm not anti BBC I just they were less biased or if they can't be , let's a right biased news alternative.Have a right biased alternative to what? Most TV stations are owned by capitalists who by their nature are right wing.If you want to find a more right biased news channel than Sky News then maybe you should try somewhere like Egypt or Kazakhstan.
Rincewind Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 Actually those that smoke and drink more pay more on takes. So druggies and alchies are paying towards the keep of abstainers. Just saying.

Guest MattP Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 What is this bloke on? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tory-mp-philip-davies-says-more-women-should-be-sent-to-prison-to-achieve-equality-with-men-a6741556.html He's doing a god job bringing many of these issues up. I'm surprised at you Ken, suicide is now the biggest killer of men under 40, I think it's time we started to talk about these things rather than just toss them aside (or even laugh at them, see Jess Phillips MP) because they are to do with the males rather than females. I'm supposed to be on a self-imposed ban from here, but couldn't let this one pass unnoticed amidst all the fake outrage at Red Ken's silly comments.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/12004437/Conservative-chairman-knew-about-sexual-harassment-allegations-against-senior-aide-MP-claims.html So, a key figure in the 2015 Tory election campaign is alleged to have bullied and threatened a young Tory activist to the extent that he threw himself under a train. He allegedly left a note blaming said senior official, together with a tape of the meeting. There had allegedly been multiple complaints to Tory HQ about this bloke, dating back years, including allegations of serious sexual assaults on women, attempted blackmail of a Tory minister etc. A Tory MP has gone on Newsnight claiming that he was bullied himself to the extent that he suffered depression - and effectively claiming that the Tory Chairman is lying when he says he only heard about the complaints recently. Now, compare the TV/media coverage given to these massively serious allegations and the coverage given to Red Ken's stupid insult in response to a colleague questioning his ability to do his job. Do remind me again, you Tory Boys, how the BBC is promoting a left-wing agenda, won't you?! This has been all over the papers I read for weeks (front page of the Times on three occasions), not to mention it was the BBC Newsnight programme that brought it to mass attention and they ran a 20 minute undercover segment on it with Mark Clarke. If there is a reason that it's not been as talked about as Red Ken I'd imagine it's because it's party activists and not the front bench. (Although Ken story was only a day) Although this one will run and run I think, I always imagined these battlebuses being a bit seedy.
Guest MattP Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Regarding Corbyn, for the first time yesterday I almost felt a bit sorry for him, he got upto to speak about defence and barely anyone was even bothering to listen on either side of the house such is the lack of respect for his opinion on it, I saw what Betts said he saw the other week, he looked a beaten man who didn't want to be where he was anymore, he has aged as well in just a few months. A picture shows a thousand words, whatever you think of the leader leaving him sat on his own like against a full front bench is sad. Labour are now consistently hitting sub 30% in opinion polls, Trident vote today and some Labour MP's already openly going to vote with the Tories. http://www.comres.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/SM-IoS_Political-Poll_November-2015-4123.pdf
Jon the Hat Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 He also did the same for a bill that would allow carers free parking at hospitals.. A bit more debatable probably but many carers are full time spouses and cost of parking can be expensive for them. Why should carers get free parking but patients not? I never understood the logic on that point. My mum drives people to hospital for a charity, and she gets parking paid I think. Spends a fortune on café coffee and cake though!
Rincewind Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Good point. Maybe it should be free parking for all or have a refund system. It depends on the situation I suppose.
Webbo Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 You can't get on the LRI car park now, imagine if it was free? Personally I'd rather the NHS spent their money of drugs than free parking.
Jon the Hat Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Good point. Maybe it should be free parking for all or have a refund system. It depends on the situation I suppose. Most hospitals already have a system to subsidise those who need to visit regularly. Pointless legislation.
Guest MattP Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Alan Johnson what a legend He's always great, probably my favourite Labour media luvvy. The way he smacked down that hard left nutter ws terrific.
Richard Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 The whole Labour front bench sneak out of the defence debate. What does this say?
Guest Posted 25 November 2015 Posted 25 November 2015 The whole Labour front bench sneak out of the defence debate. What does this say? The party line was to abstain.
