johnny the fox Posted 7 October 2015 Posted 7 October 2015 The thought of big Wes becoming a scapegoat gets me hard... thank you...I was beginning to give up hope....the Viagra don't work no more..
Guest Posted 7 October 2015 Posted 7 October 2015 Not really, they're both valid and precise in terms of performance. But can be easily misinterpreted or twisted to fit an argument
Carl the Llama Posted 7 October 2015 Posted 7 October 2015 89.743% of stats are just made up on the spot That's just a myth perpetrated by the media, in reality the figure's only about 11%
Dickov22 Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 The benny who played against West Ham in the cup looked far superior than Morgan this season! He played well but so has Wes in every game I've seen him this season. Even at Stoke he played well bar his mis hit back pass (which Huth could've done better with prior to it even reaching Wes). Also bear in mind the fact he's had about a week off all summer. He's doing great

Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Been our best defender this season, shows that just judging football by numbers doesn't always give a clear picture. I guess that game at stoke has lowered his rating considerably.
filbertway Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Not that much of a surprise considering we've kept 0 clean sheets. I doubt the majority really care about the defensive performances until the goals dry up though.
davieG Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 "You can play well, sometimes you play badly, but your reaction is important, your character." One City player who has been given respite during training is captain Wes Morgan, who Ranieri admits needs careful handling to keep him fresh after a summer of non-stop action. Morgan came straight back into the City side without much of a break after playing for Jamaica in the Copa America and the Concacaf Gold Cup, two tournaments which came immediately on the back of City's gruelling battle for Premier League survival. Morgan will be given extra time off during the international break to help him refresh for the trip to Southampton. "He is in good condition, but now it's important he maintains this," Ranieri said. "Without taking holidays it's not so easy. "He feels good now but by February or March, he could well be tired. "When we have the opportunity to give him one week off, it is important for him to recharge the batteries." Claridge Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 He's been absolute mint in some games this season. Must be a polo, with the size of the hole in our defence
Finn Claw II Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Stats are useful but context is always important. Our style of play means we will concede. What would be interstinh is say understand the causes of say Huth's and Wes's scores. If a defender loses his man and doesn't make a tackle is this 'non action' in the score I doubt it.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Not a massive Morgan fan in the PL but I don't think he's been any worse than last season. Huth, however, I think has been less impressive than last year.

Huth, however, I think has been less impressive than last year. I think Morgan has looked better than last season but believe it's down to him having played through the summer. I'm expecting him to revert to type fairly soon, thankfully we have Benny who can at least pass a ball from defence, something the rest of CBs seem unable to do.
jim5000 Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 The defenders performance is just a factor of our play style. We play ultra attacking against even Arsenal. The second we get the ball we look to break and score. When we have posession we throw everyone forward. Poor old Morgan and Huth are the victims of this playstyle. We play on the edge and that leaves them more exposed than usual. We're still outscoring the opposition so the defenders are doing their job and the gameplan is working. The forwards are bound to get the glory and the high ratings when we play like this, but that's why stats don't matter I guess. At least Morgan hasn't managed to give a handball away with his face yet this year!
