But as you say, totally agree with you about the choice or lack thereof for November. Reckon Johnson is going to get a fair few votes. I watched an episode of the X files last night were three men had been experimented on by nazi scientists by having alien creatures implanted in their esophagus's that came out of their mouths to suck the internal organs directly out of their victims body... And that my friend, is where your atheist science is leading us. I think Trump's going to somehow win it. I don't know why, but I just find it hard to envisage him standing on a podium giving a losers speech...

The march of scientific progress cannot be stopped! Stranger things have happened in election times, we've still got the debates to come which could shake things up. But right now Hillary has the kind of lead that it would take something pretty monumental to shift. But we shall see.
The Railway Man Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 What's incredible is despite the poll lead you can still get 1/3 on Hillary winning. Which is astounding when you think "remain" was 1/16 despite only being on average about 2% points ahead.

I'd genuinely rather have Corbyn and that's saying something... What a dreadful state of affairs US politics is in. Why do you call Hillary Clinton a clown? She has been a Senator for New York, Secretary of State and her 8 year stint in the White House and 4 years in the AK Governors mansion, will have some merit for qualification. If Bill Clinton could have stood for a third time, he would have been a shoe in compared to a real clown in the guise of GW. I can understand some people not liking her. I just don't get the hate.

Of course I can see that, I still don't understand why you think she is a clown. I didn't say you hated her but I guess I implied it. I used the word as a metaphor for the very strong personal feelings some people have against her. There's more than a dislike, she is vilified by millions and I don't understand what she has done to deserve it. Just to be clear, I am not a strong proponent of Clinton, I just don't understand the vitriol aimed at her!!

OK she's not a clown, she's a shinning example of the absence of any sense of meritocracy in the upper echelons of western politics. For a country whithout a monarchy they really do love their dynastical politics.

For a country whithout a monarchy they really do love their dynastical politics. I'd be interested to review your top list of meritorious Western leaders. Great people don't stand for President unfortunately, (Lincoln and a few others excepted) well not in my lifetime. If you look back at most elections since WW2, I can't think of an election when there has been a real choice of two great alternatives. Probably because most politicians are liars by nature and only interested in getting re-elected. They promise the world and usually end up doing nothing. Well that's been my experience since I've lived in the US.
GazzinderFox Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 The scary thing about Trump is you get the feeling he really wants to deliver on some of the stuff he's spouting about. Well that's what I'm saying, politics isn't a meritocracy. I suppose there was Churchill, he was pretty meritorious. They thought to themselves, hhmm he got loads of people killed in WW1 I bet he could do the same this time.
leicsmac Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Anyone else catch Trump's 2nd Amendment-related recommendation for stopping Hillary?
The Railway Man Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 How many countries has Hillary bombed so far, 5?

You mean, how many has she voted for or advocated for bombing using the War Powers Act? Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya I think, so that's three. I wonder if that's bad enough for your political opponent to advocate you being assassinated. (Of course, he 'didn't really mean that'.)

If there's definitive evidence Hillary was involved with the decision making on that then I'll add those two. I'll repeat my thoughts about whether such political action does in fact justify an opponent saying there should be armed actions of various kinds against you should you win the Presidency.

I don't know why ytou are asking me that as I dont think I have said it does. Although from what I gather Trumps "joke" was aimed at her wanting rid of the second amendment, nothing to do with foreign invasion. So I'm completely at a loss as to where you are coming from here.

Sorry, it wasn't directed at you (hence my initial asking of the question above) so I probably shouldn't have quoted you. Apologies, I thought the comment you made after mine was a response (which is a pretty blatant and annoying ad hominem if it is, and I've sadly had a long day and lost patience). Speaking regarding Trumps comments, I think Hillary wanting to repeal the 2nd Amendment is quite frankly tinfoil-hat level paranoia, considering that even if she wanted to she'd never get the necessary majority in the houses to bring it through. Though of course he would never actually say it out loud, his comment regarding "2nd Amendment supporters being able to stop Hillary" sounds more like direct action than at the ballot box to me. Of course, he can deny it all day long and it's not like it's going to stand in a court of law.
