shilton_fox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Hi all dont post on here very often, but have lost my best mate, this weekend at the age of 20 to a very rare lung disease. He followed Leicester home and away avidly and many im sure will have had a beer with him. I know a tribute at the football would mean the world to him and his family. Just wondering what sort of things people can suggest to do this? Thanks
Guest Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Sorry for your loss. Don't know anything about match tributes, but I reckon if i'd lost a close friend I'd definitely get a shirt with his name on it as something to keep forever.
weller54 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 20 years of age!.. Wow that's sad.. I lost my 17 year old nephew in July with cancer, so I know what you're going through.. Hope you and his family stay strong for each other through the pain. RIP Big Jacko.
davieG Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Commiserations to you and his family. I'm sure you'd be able to arrange a short pre match announcement when they do the birthdays, you may have to pay for it. Then there's also the memorial gardens where you can arrange to put a plaque.
Stevosevic Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Sorry for your loss, very sad when someone passes away at such a young age. I think a plaque in the remembrance garden is a great idea and somewhere you can go before each game.
EnderbyFox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Went to the same school as Jack, seen a lot of posts about him on Facebook over the past few days- lots of great stories (mostly about Leicester!) seems like a top lad and loved by many. Pretty sure he posted a few times on here as well. Sorry for your loss mate.
HighPeakFox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Sorry to hear of this....All the best to you
Vince Vega Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 My condolences. As davieG suggests, the memorial gardens. I have a plaque there for my late brother - his ashes are scattered there too. It's a nice place to go and remember, think etc. before a game.
SemperEadem Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Was a top lad, always got a knowing nod off him down the city.
Buzzell Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Sorry for your loss. Thoughts go out to you, his family and friends.
Footnote75 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Goodness, I'm very sorry to hear that. The memorial garden is an excellent idea.
Kibworth Fox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Jacko was an incredible kid, I am lucky enough to be able to call Jack a friend. As the original poster says, Jack, his dad & brother have followed city home and away for as long as I can remember. Any kind of tribute such as a chant of "one Jack Patrick" on the 20th min would provide huge comfort for his friends and family. Please help to make this happen.

Linseyj Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 We did a tribute to a fan last home game although some (heartless) fans on here had very different views whether the tribute applause should go ahead. However they just don't realise how much it means to the family and friends. Jack loved LCFC and followed us home and away with his Dad, brother and friends! A tribute would be amazing. And Jack would be over the moon and would be so chuffed! An applause and chant on 20 mins is my idea!
GaelicFox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 RIP BIG JACKO ! I hope we can find a fitting way to honour this brave young man very sad
Guest Manini Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Sorry to hear about this, thoughts to you and the rest of his friends and family. I hope you manage to arrange a fitting tribute

But knowing there are hundreds of city fans who pass away each season, these things can take over. It's now almost a weekly thing, it's not that I don't want something to be done for him, I just feel uncomfortable with it just being a select few who get it, when there are probably family down there every week who have just lost someone close. How do they feel when x person is deemed worthy and someone else isn't. As I've stated before I'd like it if the club did a tribute to all city fans lost at the last home game each season, rather than just those who use the power of the Internet and social media. Whether that's names, or messages, or images on the screens. That way everyone can have someone remembered if they would like them to be. We can all then pay respects to all the fans lost if we wish to.
LutterworthLCFC Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Went to a few away games with him, was always a great laugh
5waller5 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Hi mate, It really is a tragedy, I know Jack's dad well and they're a lovely family. I only had the privelage of meeting Jack a couple of times but he was a lovely lad. It's horrible, and my sympathies are with everyone that knew him well, obviously including you. It's a great idea you have and I may be able to help. The stadium announcer is an old school friend of mine. So maybe you could write an announcement and I can ask him if he'd read it out???
CITYLC Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Hi. I've just been made aware of this! It's Jacko's dad, Shaun. We are going through the worst time of our lives but this post has just made things so much easier. Jacko was a huge City fan from when I first took him at 4 years old. He loved the club, the players but most of all his fellow fans. Wherever he went he told everyone about how we have the greatest fans in the world. He sat in L1 of course! Me and his big Bro, Will, will be there on Saturday and will be having a few beers at the Local Hero, as always, before the game. Would love to catch up with anyone who knew Jacko. Thank you everyone for your kind words. Up the City!
