MPH Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on who should be the next England Rugby manager now that Stuart Lancaster has gone? Surprised Dean Richards never got a look in.... Although he obviously didnt help himself with his little ban he got.... I'm half expecting them to go for Mike Catt now that he's got some coaching at the top level under his belt.... ( and yes, yes, i know some of you don't like Rugby... just pretend this thread doesnt exist, or something...."
MPH Posted 11 November 2015 Author Posted 11 November 2015 hope they're English. Its probably fair to say that the majority of premiership teams are managed by English managers so it would be tough to look past that for sure....
Wymsey Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Martin Johnson would be alright. Close-knit person who is not afraid to speak his opinion.
The Doctor Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Martin Johnson would be alright. Close-knit person who is not afraid to speak his opinion. Was sacked for reaching the quarters of the 2011 world cup... I reckon it'll be @@Col city fan
Finnegan Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 If the RFU have any sense it ought to be Shaun Edwards, as gutting as that would be for us. It probably won't be though. Mallinder or Ford if they don't go overseas?

Izzy Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Mallinder is a good shout.... I like Mallinder too but he was very dismissive of the whole English system last week. I was reading how everything in New Zealand from Grass roots to the professional game is geared up to make the All Blacks world champions. In England it seems quite the opposite sometimes.

Well, if he has ideas on how to make it better.....

Ireland, Wales and the Southern Hemisphere are all country before club. England and France are getting further and further away from that as they get more and more seduced by the money in the professional club game.
Finnegan Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I think they'll go for Wayne smith Doesn't want it.
ScouseFox Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 why do they need coaches in rugby must be the easiest yet worst job in existence
Nick Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I seriously doubt it'll be an Englishman. Prerequisite for international coaching experience and money being no object to securing the coach. Not sure anybody English fits that bill. They'll likely be after your man Finners...
Finnegan Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Gats is contracted to 2019 after which he wants to go back to New Zealand. I imagine the plan is to build his profile up there for a few years at Waikato when Rennie moves on and to try and get the ABs job. Edwards is English. Jake White looks the most likely non English choice atm. Ford ruling himself out.
Nickfosse Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Doesn't want it.I didn't know that, and I do follow rugby. I' read that he had a soft spot for English rugby after his time at Northampton. When did he rule himself out?

When did he rule himself out? Yesterday I'm assuming, I read it this morning. Said in no uncertain terms he's taking a year out.
MPH Posted 12 November 2015 Author Posted 12 November 2015 Can see it being Jake White... It's not often you get a coach of that cailbre pretty much offer to do a song and dance to get the job....
Guest Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 But then the pressure really moves onto the players because unless they win the World Cup they have failed.
