Fox92 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Controversial I know but Kante perhaps should be considered? That's not controversial. Both Kante and Drinkwater have been excellent.
Gerard Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 That's not controversial. Both Kante and Drinkwater have been excellent. Well it is controversial, you can't possibly conclude that Kante has been as influential for us as Vardy or Mahrez.
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Vardy. Kante's been good but it surprises me that anyone would suggest he's been better than Vardy or Mahrez.
Fox92 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Well it is controversial, you can't possibly conclude that Kante has been as influential for us as Vardy or Mahrez. Just because he doesn't score it doesn't mean he isn't as influential. Ask Chelsea fans about Makelele, half of their goals scored by their midfielders and forwards during 04/05 are/were owed to him.
goose2010 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 isn't it nice that this actually causes a bit of discussion though having 1 stand out player so far and 4 or 5 that have also been excellent. That's nearly half a team you would fit in the excellent category Vardy / Mahrez / Drinkwater / Kante and I would even put Morgan in the excellent bracket to. Then the likes of Albrighton and Fuchs pushing towards that as well. Basically we have an incredible team that could easily push for top 5 this season as long as they all keep firing and stay fit.

Ask Chelsea fans about Makelele, half of their goals scored by their midfielders and forwards during 04/05 are/were owed to him. but he does score, he's a goal machine
Gerard Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Just because he doesn't score it doesn't mean he isn't as influential. Ask Chelsea fans about Makelele, half of their goals scored by their midfielders and forwards during 04/05 are/were owed to him. Kante has been very good for us but it's a two horse race for player of the season so far. Vardy has averaged one goal per game and scored in 10/12 games, that's phenomenal by anyone's standards let alone doing that in a team many thought would struggle. Mahrez the same as with his 7 goals & 5 assists he's averaging 1.25 goals/assists combined per 90 mins and mostly playing as a wide midfielder. Kante would have had to run games like he was Superman to get anywhere near those two to contend for player of the season so far.
Thracian Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 It's actually quite amazing that anyone should be mentioned in the same breath as Vardy given that his achievments have genuinely been the stuff of storybooks. From a works team a few years back to the Premiership's top scorer and England centre-forward is the stuff of authorian imagination and quite being compare. Which of Vardy and Mahrez is most valuable to the team is debateable - or even whether they're both all but equally valuable to one another in various senses. But Vardy's story, including his current-season performances which have allowed that story to emerge, are the most dramatic involving a Leicester player that I can ever remember. So, yes, he'd be my player of the season so far and Mahrez would have been player of the season in Vardy's absence for every one of many years past. And without both Vardy and Mahrez surely Kante and Drinkwater would have massive shouts for the accolade going right back to the days of MON, which is all a massive compliment to our owners, our management and today's team as a whole whose spirit and togetherness has made everything both possible and actual. Indeed should any of our top players chose to move I wonder if they'll lose something they perhaps won't ever find again. So many stories have been written at the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea but nothing like this has ever been written at Leicester during my time, even acknowledging the excitement of winning/losing Cup finals and sustained pushes for top division glory. Who knows when, or how, today's chapters will evolve to their climax but why would anyone wish to write themselves out of such an exciting storyline? Vardy hat-trick wins Champions League for Real Madrid? Fabulous certainly, but not nearly so dramatically unlikely as "Vardy volley makes cunning Foxes Kings of all Europe" Football is nothing without dreams.
GloverFox Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Vardy is the standout obvious choice, or is that Mahrez! ... But then again Danny Drinkwater has been huge this season, along with Albrighton ... it's just getting to hard to nail now as Fuchs and Huth along with Dyer have been so very influential !!!!!!!! Oh hell with it ...... Schlupp gets my vote! ..... (Who's that big strange blond bloke in goal (cos he's been okay as well!!!!!)
ARM1968 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Both been exceptional but Vardy's level of consistent performance probably shades it.
Lionheart10 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Both been exceptional but Vardy's level of consistent performance probably shades it. Agree ,Mahrez hasn't been as consistent as Vardy,in fact I'd put Kante in front of Mahrez.
Sampson Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 I don't get this Mahrez hasn't been consistent stuff. He's been poor in like 1 or maybe 2 games tops and been excellent in every other ones. Kante has been great, but not even close to Mahrez.
Gerard Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Mahrez has contributed to 1.25 goals per 90 mins by goals or assists. How anyone can think Kante has been better or even close to Mahrez is beyond me.
TJB-fox Posted 14 November 2015 Posted 14 November 2015 Mahrez has contributed to 1.25 goals per 90 mins by goals or assists. Unbelievable if true, aren't many players that can guarantee to produce the moment of magic to potentially win you a game, week in week out.
gerrytaggart Posted 14 November 2015 Posted 14 November 2015 Has to be Vardy so far. Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater also having a huge season so far....with many others not too far behind aswell!!! I am convinced that Vardys story will be made into a movie one day.
Gerard Posted 14 November 2015 Posted 14 November 2015 Is this an official stat? Unbelievable if true, aren't many players that can guarantee to produce the moment of magic to potentially win you a game, week in week out. Yes it is official. http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2015/2016/riyad_mahrez/165/165/11509/0/p#goals_scored/assists#90 To put that into context Mahrez either scores or assists 1.25 goals every 90 mins, there are ten PL sides who average less than 1.25 goals per 90 mins. Anyone suggesting anyone other than Vardy or Mahrez seriously needs to have a rethink.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 14 November 2015 Posted 14 November 2015 Vardy is the best striker in the League so far, and breaking records. He has improved his weakness immeasurably and on top of that he is a team player so without question for me the answer is VARDY.
My Nads Posted 14 November 2015 Posted 14 November 2015 Vardy is irreplaceable at the moment, but Dyer has shown he can replace Marhez. Marhez disappears in games too often. Pre Arsenal he was as good as Vardy, maybe better, but Vardy is on it 100% of every game..
