artursteppe Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 When I say don't sell, I of course only mean don't sell our stars. If Kramaric or other reserve players are not worth keeping it would obviously be OK to sell them. If we are really going to challenge at the top of the Prem over the coming years now is the time to start making some moves. Serious consideration must be given to Kramaric and Ulloa, but only if we can improve on them. If the players we have from the Italian league are not up to it, we should replace them now (Jan), maybe with real quality younger options for the future. This would be a shrewd move, especially with Matty hopefully available in the new year, and Andy King still an integral part of the club. We do not have enough up front to play with Jamie and score goals. Our wide players are good, our defense is OK if Benny is up to it, right back could be better, although we can manage. I do like the option of De Laet in certain games. An alternative goalkeeper is becoming something we need - Kasper must concentrate more and command his area, his focus would be stronger if he had real competition. I would be surprised and very disappointed if we do not improve the squad in January.
Webbo Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I think we'll only buy to replace anyone we sell. CR doesn't expect us to finish top 4. Better to save our money till summer.
Cincinnati Fox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Right back in Jan Tall number 10 in Jan Keeper in summer Young centre half who is good on the ball (very hard to find) in summer
MC Prussian Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 The team as it is is perfectly fine. We're doing so well, performing way above general expectations and I don't see an urgent need for change. Imagine - neither Kramaric, Inler nor King can get into this team right now... I do also see no point in going after "panic buys" in January/February. If at all, the management will assess the situation at the end of the season and come to suitable conclusions.
4everfox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I think we should use our league position to our advantage whilst we've got it and bring in two or three top drawer players. The quality of player we could attract to the club whilst being in the top four could be ridiculous. Vichai get your chequebook out and start writing 20 million+ down each for a couple of worldies.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I don't see the point of buying too many players, who probably won't get in the team, in January
davieG Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We should only buy players who are obvious improvements and whose contract expires in June.

MC, I do know that the team is 'perfectly fine', as you put it, however the teams who would be considered by most as challenging for the top four usually do business in Jan. Arsenal are the exception and they win very little. If we can improve the squad, I think we should improve the squad. Younger players with bright futures can often be 'acquired' or promised, or 'loaned back' in January, that is where the 'value' often is in the January market.
whoareyaaa Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 If we are going to buy in Jan I would rather it be a top class no.10 or attacking mid, thats it for me.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 January is a notoriously awful time to try and buy players Anyway, we are doing exceptionally well, with the team we have now
linemakers Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 If a player is available to help us push on second half of season then we would be silly not to go for it. More important is to make sure we don't sell any of our stars
lgfualol Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We've got to get a new Keeper in Jan. Hamer looks as though he isn't rated very highly here and Schwarzer is just so old it's unbelievable.

That's the thing - at the start of the season, no one saw us "challenging for the top four". The players as part of this squad are for most part overperforming (which is absolutely astonishing). And even now, I think most fans and pundits see it realistically and us finishing in the top half. Then again, it all depends on what the club and management have set out our target to be this season. Maybe that aim will be re-assessed comes the end of December. Although rather unlikely, we might already have the much-talked about 40 points by then...
LCCFox96 Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Can only see us moving for one big player in January, unless we have a shock departure of someone like Vardy/Mahrez/Drinkwater (please dear God no!). A #10 attacking player, capable of goals, fast attacking football and the passing ability and skill to link our midfield to our attack with the potential ability to also be deployed out wide is the sort of player I'd imagine to be on our radar. I'd love to see Andre Carrillo here. I can't not see us going for him with his contract up in the summer too.
Len Finsbury Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 If we do buy in January, as long as we've gone through the normal LCFC recruitment process, I'll be happy. They know what areas need improving, they also know who might be available in the summer so that may have a bearing on who we buy during the next transfer window too. No point in buying a right back if we have a better one lined up in July.
(.) (.) Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We've never had a better chance to be a regular top 10 team. We have to push on. Standing still is the new going backwards.
Clever Fox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I don't think we'll sign anyone in January unless a few leaves as we're reasonably ok. My fear is an injury to Vardy and the goals then dry up.
Sir Shep Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I can't wait to see the end of January, really hoping we hold onto Vardy and Mahrez but of cause it's ultimately up to them. Yes we can say no, can afford to say no, but we don't want unsettled players who's heads have been turned. The price of success I guess.
MC Prussian Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I don't think we'll sign anyone in January unless a few leaves as we're reasonably ok. My fear is an injury to Vardy and the goals then dry up. That's all just hypothetical. I think if we were to lose Vardy, Mahrez and/or Kanté for a prolonged period of time due to injury, then I'd worry. Still, there's nothing to prove our bench couldn't step up and provide the goods, as well.

Stadt Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 And his name....is Andy King I like King but he isn't those things
Leicester_Numan Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 I think we'll only buy to replace anyone we sell. CR doesn't expect us to finish top 4. Better to save our money till summer. This. It's highly unlikely that anyone we want to improve the squad will be available and certainly not at a decent price. I'm sure we'll be making enquiries but most good deals are done in the summer.
stox259 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 It's a great time to attract players so although I don't expect many signings in January I believe it's essential to begin setting up deals for the summer. As a player I believe Leicester is currently a hugely attractive club to sign for at the minute. Not in a relagation scrap. A chance of European football. Great atmosphere to play your home games and by all accounts the owners really take care of the players at the club. We can really attract some quality younger players which could set us up as a Premier League team for years to come.
LCCFox96 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 And his name....is Andy King Massive Andy King fan but feel like he doesn't quite cover all of those attributes.
suffolk fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Facts are if both Vardy and Mahres want to go if a big club comes calling in January they will go. All depends on the player really. I don't think we would want a situation like at Wba with Berinho who had his head turned by Spurs last transfer window. He certainly is not the player he was last season. I hope they do both stay as has been alluded too by Ranieri I genuinely believe we are building something big at this football club.
