Bazly Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 When I think of who are the automatic choices, engraved into the team sheet for the foreseeable the names are: Fuchs Kante Mahrez Vardy Drinkwater almost made it but not quite, so that leaves 7 places that could be strengthened in January with no better players in the current squad presently sitting out injured or side-lined than those playing. I think the team has lots of potential that a four player backbone gives but we still need 3 or 4 great players to join them to become a great team of players. I'd look for a shot stopper six yard dominating goalkeeper, right full back, right back and a proper Shearer like centre forward capable of scoring at set pieces which we just can't manage at all at the moment. Who do we need? I'd start with De Gea and work from there.
filbertstreet Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Schmeichel, Morgan, Huth, Drinkwater not likely to drop their places either We're joint top of the league ffs! :xmastongue:
Bryn Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Pretty much the whole team at the mo bar the second striker.
ARM1968 Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Kante Vardy Fuchs Morgan Mahrez Drink water Kasper
FoxinNotts Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Mental opening statement for a thread. De Gea! Yeah ok! People need a reality check. It'll probably come tomorrow. Anyway, pretty obvious really, the only positions that are even slightly debate worthy are right back and second striker/no.10. Everyone else is playing out of their skin.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Wow, people really don't appreciate Albrighton
FireFox Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Wow, people really don't appreciate Albrighton Not like he's been a constant in the team since the second half of West Ham away last season - playing on the right, on the left, and as a RWB.
AyewJoking Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Drinkwater one half of the best central midfield pairing in the league. In fact, we're the best at everything* which is why we will return to our rightful position at the top after tonights game. * were not the best at keeping clean sheets, we'll leave that to man utd - oh, wait ,
Oxfordfox83 Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Not like he's been a constant in the team since the second half of West Ham away last season - playing on the right, on the left, and as a RWB. Exactly. His appearance has coincided precisely with our change in fortunes. I find it baffling that people don't see all the crucial work that he does-his decision making is almost perfect, great distribution, good tracking back, quick and comfortable on the ball- he turns in performance after performance. He's so important to what we do, he's amongst the first three on the team sheet for me.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Everybody's spot is pretty much nailed down with the exception of Vardy's strike partner. He seems to switch Ulloa and Okazaki tactically dependent on the opposition and other than occasional change between Albrighton/Schlupp/Mahrez (even that has stopped recently) we've been consistently playing the same group since Arsenal. Guess you could also argue that - form book aside - the 5 players to start every game this season are the automatic team sheet choices: Schmeichel, Morgan, Huth, Drinkwater and Vardy.
Gerard Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 I think this is the order of most nailed on to start and vulnerable in our team. In this order: Vardy MahrezKanteDrinkwaterFuchsSchmeichelMorganHuthAlbrightonSimpsonUlloa/Okazaki In fact just looking at that list the top five have either been new signings or ridiculously upped their level this season and completely different players. Not hard to see why we're doing so well.
