DangerFox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I think most people believe after our recent run, that we need to strengthen and add some quality to the squad. Both Vardy and Mahrez after a cracking start have got a lot of weight on there shoulders and subsequently find themselves out marked and nullified. I believe they'll leave in the summer the way we are going. We need to relieve the pressure on them and add another dimension to our team. I know there'll be people saying we should be happy because of where we are and what we've achieved so far. I agree we have been superb albeit the last couple of games. But what a fantastic opportunity to find ourselves in right now. I wish the manager/owners would use it to our advantage with the TV money coming in next year to establish our side as a top 8/6/4? side by adding real quality! Vardy and Mahrez become more inspired and we kick on! (I do understand there are other players to our squad but it's no coincidence that as they are not performing neither are the team).
Matt Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I don't think Vardy will leave and if Mahrez carries on the way he is (I know! He's only been poor for 2 games, a drop in the ocean compared to how good he has been) I think clubs might take a step back and think hang on a minute, that said they might be interested in his potential, but for him to fulfil that potential he needs to be playing and I can't see him playing regular if he moves on, I think and hope he realises that. But we do need to strengthen, desperately.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 To be honest I thought vardy looked alot sharper yesterday than he has in while. Just need to wait for him to get back to full fitness. Mahrez on the other hand hasn't looked interested for a while.
katieakita Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Vardy looked much better with limited opportunities yesterday an assist, an assist for the penalty a header that had the keeper beaten and he looked sharper. Mahrez just didn't quite click and his pin point passing was not quite right, also in recent matches he has been closer marked and been kicked a few times, the ref could have helped yesterday by booking a couple for the late challenges on him. As for the penalties it would be Fuchs for me.

Mahrez has been nothing short of disgraceful the last two games, which is going to happen I understand that, but he may need benching next time out, as at Norwich to get his focus back. He should never take a penalty again - an opinion I had after Bournemouth.
Fox92 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Vardy looked decent yesterday. Running in behind, chip for the goal was superb, drew a foul from the goalkeeper. Only bad thing was he should have lobbed Bunn when Drinkwater played him through late on in the second half. I don't think he's fully fit though. But that sums up our problem. People talk about strength in depth after the Spurs performance but we haven't got direct quality to replace Vardy. Sorry to say it again but we should have bid for Austin. Mahrez, on the other hand, looked lazy. Like he couldn't be bothered and the penalty summed his performance up. (In which Vardy should take penalties). He doesn't work as hard as Albrighton anyway, but yesterday was a joke. Drinkwater was feeding better balls through. Gray to start now for me.
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Drop Mahrez and give Gray a run.. Mahrez has completely lost his focus and it's time he was benched!
m4DD0gg Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I think in Vardys case the injury and the 30 days of no training are the reason. For Mahrez his head has been well and truly turned with transfer rumours and no doubt agent meddling.
Jimothy Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Vardy looked like he was getting back to his best yesterday, but Mahrez looked poor in most parts. We won without him earlier in the season, I think he needs a game or two off.
GaelicFox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's all money and contracts and other clubs Focus has been lost by then two ! Get them on big new contracts this week and let's get focused again ! Mahrez really is a worry his talk about staying till summer and then looking at options looks silly talk right now Great players become great by inspiring and raising their team mates to highs above the sum of their parts ! lets hope we can get the devastating talent back soon I'm convinced it's all contacts and money talk loosing focus
Rushden fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 For a few weeks now, I've been wondering what the relationship must be like between the two so called superstars in our club. It seems to me that the don't really get on which is having an impact on our goal scoring. Imagine you are a whizz kid winger scoring for fun and and your playing alongside a hot shot striker, the competition for top of the scoring charts must be immense. A healthy relationship means you will support each other through every game (like our 1st 16/17 games). An unhealthy relationship is when you have to force yourself to give up a chance of a goal to support you partners record. (We all know when that was). Since then Mahrez seems to have taken off on the goal scoring himself and stopped feeding Vardy as much ( save one occasion when he put in a delightful ball for Jamie's record). He has become a little more selfish and Vardy has stopped scoring. Yesterday none of mahrez's balls found Vardy where drinky's did., this has been happening for a while, adding to that for the past few games Mahrez has started to motor forward and then if he can't get his own shot off, has turned backwards to pass sideways instead of his usual instant look for Vardy I'd love to say I'm being a little harsh on Mahrez and Vardy relationship but yesterday's penno at Villa kinda was the definitive evidence. Vardy desperate for a goal, just stood and watched with his hands on his hips whilst everybody else ran in to follow up. I know people don't need to get on to work well together ( Cole and Sherringhan, Ronaldo and Bale to a certain extent) but those pairs were experienced pro's who had years together. Can someone tell me why I am wrong, or have others had this same thought?

For Mahrez his head has been well and truly turned with transfer rumours and no doubt agent meddling. Yea I agree , but Vardy also has a contract being negotiated right now by the club and his people that is probably his most important contract of his life at 29 !
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 How many times have they assisted one another this season? A LOT! This is pony

One of my arsenal mates has heard that he is their top target this summer and negotiations have been under way for some weeks.
Mark Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 How many times have they assisted one another this season? A LOT! This is pony Chelsea aside can't remember much happening between them since that chance Vardy had to play Mahrez in second half at Newcastle but he decided to take it on himself, Mahrez was noticeably unimpressed there. Think that was the game after he'd just given Vardy the penalty.
Ricey Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If these two were even in half the form they were last calendar year then we could have had a lot more points over the last few weeks. We are much better defensively but the drop-off in confidence of both players has been dramatic and is costing us as there's no one else to step up. Mahrez last night looked like his heart wasn't in it. There was no skill or twisting and turning. His defence splitting balls were always too late or sloppy and the less said about his pathetic attempts to tackle the better. I'd bench him for Stoke but I can't see Ranieri doing it.
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Vardy, watching Mahrez take the penalty, static, hands on hips spoke volumes! ...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Neutrals and the media have been going on and on as if they're geniuses about what happens if we sell Vardy and Mahrez or they get injured. That was totally missing the point. They were never going to sustain the kind of form they were in. Now we've got what was always going to be the real conundrum - what to do when they lose form. Do we drop them? Do we change the style of play? Do we even, heaven forbid, sell them? I'm desperate for the fourth option - sign players in their position to give them competition and the chance of a rest. I'm not sure we have other wingers and strikers good enough to be able to do it at the moment. Especially up front, though, let's seize this opportunity and kick on.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Vardy isn't fully fit, but Mahrez isn't putting in as much effort.
cc_star Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Not sure that in themselves they've been 'poor'. Seems too strong a word It's just that the team hasn't played well for a while, and we're really over-reliant on a long ball as opposed to quick transitions. Drinkwater & Kante haven't been competing and we're missing Schlupp too. The busy spell seems to have seen us look a bit more overwhelmed than just defending well & looking to break. If Vardy isn't training then he needs resting, it's really not helping us and without Ulloa alongside him we're struggling not to immediately lose possession & see yet another opposition wave of attacks Add to the fact we're now playing teams a 2nd time Anyway, we're top of the league, so long may all these problems continue
Chris B Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 For me Ulloa is simply not good enough - he has a woeful first touch and is not strong enough in the air or the ground - we need an aerial threat fouls do worse than Crouch in my view plus he has what Ulloa spent a goal threat!! The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If both kept up their good form for the whole of the season they wouldn't be playing for Leicester anyway. I'm not concerned about them as such but we do need to freshen things up this month certainly
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 In most papers today that huge bids are coming in for both before the close of the window... It certainly looks like Mahrez doesn't want to play for us anymore?.. Get rid!

Are you for real?
