davieG Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 TWENTY men were arrested at trouble broke out between rival Aston Villa and Leicester City fans in Birmingham city centre. Police said most of those held were teenagers. It followed a violent clash between supporters in Price Street at around 4:15pm on Saturday, ahead of the teatime kick-off at Villa Park. The trouble happened near to The Bull pub, which was closed at the time. Officers came across a group who were fighting and throwing bricks and bottles at each other. Despite trying to run away from police, 15 people aged between 16 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of either violent disorder or affray and taken into custody. Eight were Villa supporters; seven had travelled from Leicester. Another five youths – four aged 16 and one aged 17 – were also arrested on suspicion of affray after being caught hiding on the NCP car park on nearby Weaman Street. None of the 20 was seriously injured and all have been released on police bail, with strict conditions, until dates in February and March. Inspector Richard Vickers said: “Thankfully this was just a small pocket of disorder and the vast majority of people attending the match were there to enjoy the opportunity of supporting their team. “Football-related disorder and violence of this nature will not be tolerated and we work closely with security staff and club officials to identify and monitor ‘risk supporters’. “These few individuals who choose to display their ‘support’ through anti-social or criminal activity are dealt with strongly and we will always push for Football Banning Orders against such offenders.” http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/20-arrested-trouble-between-villa-10746541
Leicesterlad96 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Did anybody see/hear anything when in brum yesterday?
Fox92 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 A clash at a football match, well I never. Much ado about nothing; nobody got seriously hurt.
Larry_LCFC Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Wish this element of young chavvy scumbags that seems to follow Leicester around claiming to be fans would just jog the fvck on. How pathetic can you get? Utter bellends.
Len Finsbury Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I really don't care about football hooliganism. If groups of men want to fight each other after a game, let them get on with it. What I do object to is when the violence spills over to people who are not interested in being a part of it. That's when it's out of order.

You should care if you ever want to see safe standing because those that are against it will use instances like this as reasons for not allowing it to happen simply because it escalated into stadiums and they will suggest that this what will happen if fans are allowed to stand again. It also impacts on other aspects fans match day, being herded like cattle, excessive police presence, no alcohol on buses etc.

Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Lads with too much testosterone that they know what to do with. Probably bashed one out in their cells and shook sticky hands when they got out.

As for safe standing, by the time that gets approved, I'll be old enough to really appreciate the seat!

I've already reached that age but I do like the games to include enough action to get me out of my seat. As for the ale it's available at other sporting events seemingly without causing this kind of childish trash.
Thracian Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 A sorry commentary although I can easily understand how anyone living in an area as depressing as Villa's would find fighting appealing. Didn't they have full-scale riots just down the road not many years back that were nothing to do with football. One of my sons lives there, says it's horrible and says there's no chance of improvement til they get rid of the Labour Council and there's little chance of that given the make-up of the place.

Thracian Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Politics thread please ! I visit the area on the Erdington side every week, and if I had to use the pubs there I'd give up drinking! It's that bad. There's one house near Spaghetti junction even has two hearses on the drive! It kinda captures the dead end mood of the place.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Those pesky Ultras are at it again.. Ahh come on mate, thought you were better than that! Even if you are on the wind up
Livid Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 My hoody is from Next and my slippers are John Rocha (Debenhams) More of a Fat Face and Tesco man myself.
