ramboacdc Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 I cannot be the only one who has had this bombarding their Facebook for the last week surely? http://www.hinckleytimes.net/news/local-news/campaign-leicester-city-fans-give-10788968 AS someone that has connections to the family of the victim and one of the accused i don't know how i feel about this. I know her mother is behind this but how its being reported it is like its a thing we all knew was happening. i am not asking anyone to join in or not. i am not looking for an argument of should we/shouldn't we. Just opinion. Me personally. I say the death of a 15 year old should not be celebrated with applause but with silence. I also know for a fact she was not a Leicester fan and Measham is Derby County central so i do not know why we would want to? Another point being one of the accused still has a twitter page sporting Leicester City. We seen clapping..could be misconstrued.
AKCJ Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Sad world we're living in when people want to clap the death of a 15 year old.
Fox92 Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Don't get what this clapping means. Surely you can do something more special. I can remember when that young Everton fan got killed, they played 'Z Cars' at Anfield.

But she wasn't a football fan. Leicester or otherwise.

Leicester or otherwise. Yes, indeed. Ah right I didn't know, tbf I haven't read that article, but I agree it should be a silence not an applause if it did happen.
Jimmy Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 if she had a connection with the club by being a season ticket holder or something a minutes silence would be fine but I don't get why it's even been brought up
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Was going to bring this up myself. Everyone is shocked by what went on literally 1.5miles at most from my house. The majority of my mates know both the accused so it's very close to home in more ways than one. I wondered if she was a city fan or not as nothing had been mentioned about it before. As tragic as it is it's not something I'd be participating in

Drew Peacock Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 This was a tragic situation, but soon we will be doing these things 3 or 4 times a game. Where do you draw the line? For me when this happens so often it ceases to be effective, apart from to those who are personally involved. I must admit the Remembrance Day tribute at the ground really moved me though this year, but we all have reason to remember and be thankful for that. I hope this doesn't come across as disrespectful, but just doesn't sit comfortably with me.
Jimmy Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 the reason Newcastle fans do it is because 2 fans were flying out to watch their team play were killed, they were active fans of the club flying to watch them so its a tribute from one fan so another, this is just odd

The only Leicester fans I know are my father in law and one of the mrs' cousins.
Jimmy Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 The fact they still do it is odd a little but that's up to them
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Sad story but as it has been said multiple times on here, these things have lost all meaning so I won't be participating, sorry.

Made me ashamed to support the same side as him for a few days.
stripeyfox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 I was slightly staggered that in the days following her death the local football league which my Under 8's play in instructed us to hold a minutes silence before our match. Whilst I can appreciate the sentiment I would have found myself in the slightly uncomfortable position of trying to explain to a group of seven year olds that this girl had been murdered and that is why we are having a silence. In the end our game was called off so the situation did not arise. Of course I can only imagine the devastation that the girl's family are going through but I think it's a bit much to expect children to have to participate in this kind of thing. Remembrance Day is different and my boys had a game at St Andrews that day and took part in the ceremonies there. There's not enough traction here for this to happen, so at best it will be half hearted gesture. For that reason, I'm out.
davieG Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Isn't there already a request to join the Liverpool fans in a rendition of YNWA.
stripeyfox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Isn't there already a request to join the Liverpool fans in a rendition of YNWA. Isn't that for the Leicester fan who died at the Anfield game before Christmas? Apologies, I can't recall his name.
stripeyfox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 The fact they still do it is odd It is. I mean, are they going to continue to do it for ever? They've paid their respects to the undoubtedly dedicated supporters who died in the MH17 crash. I don't see the need to do it every week
davieG Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Isn't that for the Leicester fan who died at the Anfield game before Christmas? Apologies, I can't recall his name. Yes I think so.
stevelcfc Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Tragic, but it appears she has no connection to the club in any form. People are all too eager to do things like this these days and it loses the meaning, though I fully understand the gesture people want to make. Her death is a tragic thing, but personally I won't be joining in either.
