Mythyaar Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 We cheer on the Hammers! They win this replay and the semi final is the week after we play them. Hopefully, they would rest a few for our game (Payet please). Caveat being they could still be involved in top 4 race themselves.
Fox92 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 It's a week after... Why would they rest their best players when they are pushing for 4th place?
les-tah Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 It's a week after... Why would they rest their best players when they are pushing for 4th place? tough one for the west ham boss as he did say he would rather win FA cup then top 4
Fox92 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 tough one for the west ham boss as he did say he would rather win FA cup then top 4 I totally understand that. Winning trophies is more important. But my point remains. The game is a week after so it's just like a normal PL week. He wouldn't drop Payet against Villa but play him against Manchester City, for example.
whetstonefox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 If Man Utd somehow overcome Liverpool tonight I'm sure I've read that the earliest they can play West Ham in the cup replay is the Wednesday after they play us! Potentially they have Sun - LCFC, Weds Man Utd Sun Cup semi
Mythyaar Posted 17 March 2016 Author Posted 17 March 2016 It's a week after... Why would they rest their best players when they are pushing for 4th place? Its possible that they could still be, though their 3 prior games to us are all London derbies Cheisea, Palace and Arsenal so v tough. City will be clear of them I reckon, so just leaves Arsenal. Key game W Ham v Arsenal 9th April, we can't lose: Arsenal win it West Ham probably out of 4th place running concentrate on cup rest players v us. West Ham win, Arsenal out of title race.
Dan Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Last ever league and cup games at Upton Park are both against Man Utd under the lights
Leicesterpool Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 It's a week after... Why would they rest their best players when they are pushing for 4th place? Top four is an massive achievement but winning the fa cup is something else you remember it more. However West Ham have won the cup a few times so I think most of there supporters would choose a top four finish.
st albans fox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Looks like wed 6 April to me Unfortunately, United play Spurs and the hammers play arsenal the following weekend so a tough game may not do us any favours although West Ham will want to try and chase down the gooners.

No. In this day and age top 4 trumps the FA cup any day of the week, think of the dollar!!
TonyN11 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 maybe we should dastardly hope or a few long-term injuries on both sides
lestajigs Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 No. In this day and age top 4 trumps the FA cup any day of the week, think of the dollar!! In 20 years time you will remember an fa cup win, will people still remember finishing 4th?
ceredigion Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 If we were in West Ham's position, as opposed to our own, I'd want the manager and the team to prioritise the FA Cup. If they beat Man U, they'll be in the last 4 with Watford, Palace and Everton and they'll be favourites to win it. But neither team will win the league this year, so we don't need to worry about them. They don't threaten us.
TonyN11 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 In 20 years time you will remember an fa cup win, will people still remember finishing 4th? Arsene Wenger?
Clever Fox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 I'm certain the Players would want a Cup Final win over a top 4 finish. Yes they'er might be more money in Europe but who wouldn't like to be able to say they played in an FA cup final.
ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Hoping West Ham win the replay. That would leave 4 clubs that all haven't won anything for a long time with Everton most recent back in 1995. I would then be happy regardless of whoever wins the FA Cup and it adds another chapter to a remarkable season.
Oswinner Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 If West Ham squeeze into the top 4 and play champions league football in their first season at the Olympic Stadium then they will attract much better players next season which has the chance of making them a huge team in the forthcoming years. Top 4 is much more important to them. I can see them making it too. This season will go down in history as the turning point for years to come. A much more competitive and volatile year-to-year finishing positions.
