NewEnglandFox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Well I`ve not read the whole article because i`m not going to subscribe in order to view all of it, but this is the bit that i can see says. "The study examined more than 4,000 urine tests from professional players competing in the Champions League and Europa League, Europe’s top club competitions, and two European Championships between 2008 and 2013. It found 7.7% of the 879 players recorded drug tests so abnormal that they would trigger an investigation under new Uefa rules brought in this month." If you look at the dates and competitions mentioned, we are not going to be involved. What you just posted was published on September 20. This obviously isn't that agian. http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/uk_news/thedopingscandal/article1609608.ece
st albans fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 It's just going to increase the suspicion that we must be doing something dodgy - it could easily cast a shadow over the greatest sporting achievement ever - though not In our eyes. And tbh, I don't give a sh*t about other clubs fans - they can think what they like. We know that out players don't cover the most ground - that they take it in turns to press. That our injury record this season is in line with previous campaigns. Nothing is going to spoil this for me!
lgfualol Posted 2 April 2016 Author Posted 2 April 2016 Schlupp will get it for his concentration tablets
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 This whole story will no doubt stem from the London media mafia wanting to unsettle things Arsewipes
lgfualol Posted 2 April 2016 Author Posted 2 April 2016 Why post this? I posted it in the general sport thread under "Drugs in Sport" or something. Someone made into its own post on the main forum though.
yorkie1999 Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Aparently it's alot of villa players from a BBC reporter. Said in a joking manner.
st albans fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Reading the tweet, it mentions 'prescribing performance enhancing drugs'. So the scandal is probably to do with club medical teams saying that players require certain drugs on medical grounds which just happen to help their weekly performance. Think what just happened with sharapova.
Super_horns Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Could just do a Seb Coe and say its nasty reporters "declaring war against the sport".. Of course football will have some issues with the millions that play it across the world. Trouble is this will lead to all sorts of unfounded allegations against certain players. I remember Wenger made some comment about the poor standard of drug testing earlier in the season..
Freesolo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 To one of the comments above, it'll be blood doping not a drug as such so therefore won't be something picked up in a test. It's widespread all over sport and for now not considered illegal so I'd imagine the times are only looking to change that not destroy someone. I could of course be very wrong but that would make sense to me You can't test for blood doping from a urine test, It will be anabolic steroids or players getting doctors to prescribe them testosterone for low T when they don't have it
rico Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Our sports science department is made up of some of the most genuine and professional people in the industry. Won't be anywhere near us.
NewEnglandFox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 The thing you have to remember about doping is that it's not just the illegal stereotypical anabolic steroids that count as doping. The list or banned substances is hundreds of items long and contain ingredients in drugs/supplements that us normal folks take and are prescribed all of the time. A coke scandal would also fall under doping but I doubt the media would present a coke scandal as doping. https://wada-main-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/files/wada-2016-prohibited-list-en.pdf
Freesolo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Costa looks like a roided out ape with anger problems, or maybe he is just a ape with anger problems
biggs Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 It'll very likely involve players having played in Europe over the past couple of years
WesMorganGod Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 they better have solid proof, disgusting to make allegations about this unless they show stone cold proof, its a very serious allegation.
sphericalfox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 I hope they've shifted our training ground unicorn stem cell lab. Can't bust us without the proof.
Freesolo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Most likely older players taking a risk with nothing to really lose wanting to prolong their career in football
Number 6 Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Wait so basically some urine had high levels of stuff before, but passed as within the rules. It would breach new rules but was within rules at the time? Non story. Just want to sell some papers.
sylofox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 A one word clue say's nobody has done wrong. Prescribed some meds on the banned list are the only ones that can be used for certain illnesses. The fact they used prescribed implies no one has broken any rules.
The Doctor Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Insulins a banned substance? Unlikely many diabetics will be playing at the top level but that's still quite an easy and innocuous one to fall foul of.
Freesolo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Insulins a banned substance? Unlikely many diabetics will be playing at the top level but that's still quite an easy and innocuous one to fall foul of. Do you know how dangerous Insulin is? Only the most hardcore bodybuilders use it and it would offer no help to a athlete unless you are trying to pack on a ton of muscle. Edit; Also you have to be on a shitload or steroids to get any positive effects off it
sylofox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Vicks nasal contains banned substances that would show on a test ffs.
The Doctor Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Do you know how dangerous Insulin is? Freesolo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Insulin is a hormone for regulating blood sugar levels and produced in the body naturally provided you've not got type one diabetes, not for bodybuilding... Trust me it is used in bodybuilding stacked with huge amounts of steroids "Insulin allows for amino acids and glucose to be pushed into muscle cells, greatly stimulating muscle protein synthesis at higher doses. It may also increase testosterone production by increasing LH and FSH. There's also some other synergistic stuff with IGF and GH. All in all, insulin is a very anabolic hormone" Its very dangerous though if you don't eat after taking it you can go into a coma, Every Mr Olympia contestant is using it
st albans fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Some Manchester based journo reckons he will release the name of 14 players involved currently playing for top four sides at 9-30. Not long to wait then though until the ST article is available we won't know the substance (pardon the pun) EDIT: he has tweeted 7 LCFC, 2 Spurs, 1 afc and 1 MCFC involved
