Matt Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Am I the only one who are baffled at lack of the impact of the article? I know the evidence is patchy but that have not stopped people making a big deal of news before. I was expecting to get slated on Facebook or for people on my newsfeed to make a bigger deal of it but the only mention I have seen of it was in a football group. Yeah pretty much the same. It seems to be on the Sunday Times reporting it, other media outlets are mentioning it in the headlines but not really going into much detail. I don't think there's alot in it because of this and with what's coming out about the 'doctor' that from what i've read and seen of his past I can only describe as scum I think he's in more trouble than anyone.
The whole world smiles Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 All the money and the interest national and globally in the premier leauge the press and media will not want to make to big a deal of this.
Guest Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 All the money and the interest national and globally in the premier leauge the press and media will not want to make to big a deal of this. Nowt to do with the fact it seems about as likely to stand up as ice cream in the sun?
The Doctor Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 All the money and the interest national and globally in the premier leauge the press and media will not want to make to big a deal of this. If that were the case it wouldn't have come out at all - particularly given the times is owned by Murdochs empire, which makes a shit load off televising the division. Far more likely that there's not much they can safely cover with the lack of evidence, and given the doctors history it looks like it'll cave like an arsenal title bid.
Carl the Llama Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Yeah looks like Boner's going to take the fall and everyone will forget about it while Ukad don't bother chasing up the leads like they did last time. Then again having now lost his job maybe the Bonerman will come out swinging and provide the necessary evidence to take everyone down with him? Dunno, time will tell.

I think the problem is there is no evidence. Plus it's a discredited doctor and the Sunday Times. Very poor journalism and hardly front page news.
Itsthejoeker Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 The @SundayTimesNews allegations are false and very misleading. I have never had a relationship with any premier football club or player. I have never prescribed Androgen therapy for the purpose of performance enhancement.. I treat symptomatic men with low Test levels Those were tweets from the Bonarman himself

B: Yeah, yeah. [scene cuts a bit here, may be some of the conversation missing] B: I mean the truth of the matter is ermmmm drugs are in sport R: Right B: Urrrr now what I do is, what I do is to prescribe responsibly and I try to keep my patients the optimum level of normal. [skips forward definitely cutting out some convo] B: What we don't want to be doing is kind of doping you up with loads of stuff and all your stuff [performances] go off the scale and you're going to get into lots of trouble. I mean he could have a couple of boxes of EPO at home in the fridge for example and you would monitor your own hematocrit levels. Your hematocrit drop you can give yourself a top up. [scene cuts a bit here, may be some of the conversation missing] B: You want to do it off cycle or between races yeah absolutely R: How long do you have to give for it to get out of your system? B: Well if we use the fast-acting testosterones it can be as little as a week R: Right, ok B: If we use the medium-acting or long-acting then it can be a couple of months Cba to transcribe the rest but they carry on to talk about when he needs to wean off to avoid setting off tests.
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 This isn't receiving the media attention I was expecting. Probably because there is no evidence and I'm sure a libel shit storm will come from it. People being careful what they're reporting, bar the telegraph.

The conversation here circles around cyclists, doesn't it? So far, the doctor in question has denied any contact with the three football clubs mentioned by the Sunday Times. http://www.joe.co.uk/sport/the-irish-doctor-at-the-centre-of-the-premier-league-doping-claims-has/50202 Which I think was one of the, if not the main point itsthejoker was trying to make.

I wasn't really making a point, just making people aware of what he'd said
Voll Blau Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 According to a German mate the press over there are making a huge deal of the Leicester angle on the story.
Captain... Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Has the video footage of him mentioning any clubs or players come out yet or the transcript? I would be interested to know the wording. Did he even name clubs, or name players which the ST interpreted as having played for those clubs, in which case how many names were mentioned, it could have been 1 player mentioned that played for Arsenal, Chelsea, Us and Brum (the closest I can find is Matt Upson who ticks 3 of those boxes). Or 20 players that played for those clubs. Did he specifically say that they had doped, or just that he had treated premier league players. Context here is everything and the understated reaction from the press seems to be that it is not that big a deal, is that because they have seen the transcripts and realise it is much ado about nothing, or the players involved are from years ago and had very little impact on any of the clubs mentioned?

That does make sense and I hope you're right. Surely if those allegedly involved were to affect this season every news outlet in the country would be chomping at the bit to break the story and give names if they could stand it up.
