Gartree Prison has a "no-go" wing run by Islamic lunatics

I feel like I'm stuck in Groundhog Day.

Is there any evidence that providing halal food is any more costly than non-halal food?

Does providing a place of worship for Muslims cost more than providing one for Christians?

I couldn't care less about cost, my point is why society makes such a fuss over people who are supposed to be paying a debt to society, the way some are talking it's like we are the ones having to bend over for them, Halal, Kosher, Hindu, Christian - I couldn't care less, they shouldn't be any special privledges granted whether it's cheaper or more expensive.

With the Human Rights legislation so firmly established I'm surprised we don't offer a choice of holidays and a free massage service to combat stress as well.

You keep avoiding the issue: there are costs involved in providing non-hahal food.

Frankly, I wouldn't lose any sleep if they fed them all bread and water, but it's a question of fairness and the general attitude (I don't aim this at you personally) seems to have an element of anti-muslim bias.

Incidently, it's worth noting that only 2% of Muslim prisoners are imprisoned for terrorisism offences - they are not all 'jihadi lunatics'.

Directly answering the question is avoiding the issue to you? Like I said, even if it's just the time it takes to tender and procure contracts for alternative faith foods, there's still a cost. Maybe you lack business or particularly public sector experience so let me point out its not just about sending Gary down the halal counter at ASDA on his weekly prison shop to pick up an especially blessed chicken for cellmate #5's Sunday roast. Bit more ****ing complicated than that.

Then once you commit to doing it for halal, you've got to do it for kosher and providing soy substitutes for vegetarians and whatever else.

And nowhere did I ever imply that all Muslim inmates are terrorists, that's the most bizarre of strawman-ing and if it shows up anyone's one track mind it's definitely not mine.

My point is simple - if you're in prison because you've broken the law then quite frankly you waive your right to be picky about what you eat. Porridge for every meal.

Made with water? That's just inhumane.

It's be hunger strike time from me or perhaps dirty protest if it wasn't made with blue top milk at the very least

Water?! ****ing hell, Bellend, this isn't China. Of course we give them a splash of milk. Good god man.

Porridge.

Porridge for everyone.

With no syrup or anything. Definitely no Nutella.

If we're going to be monsters you might as well make it with red top milk.

Absolutely. Nobody wants a bowl of porridge ruining with Nutella.

And not good quality Quaker Oats porridge either but that mass produced stuff made from sawdust that everyone in the kitchen has gobbed in.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: "There is no evidence to back-up any of these claims about HMP Gartree."

.....done!

Mate we are discussing porridge, stop derailing the thread.

Would have thought the meat is halal anyway in the same way the meat you eat at home is. Doesn't cost anymore for abortoires to just employ a brown bloke to mutter a spell while he slits the throat of the poor beastie.

lol!!
