Bayfox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 and if the worst happens and we are 2nd/3rd? As micky adams says, keep the faith . I have no idea after that, as i can't for the life of me understand the COEFFICIENT
WigstonWanderer Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 We are guaranteed our highest top flight finish since 1929! If my maths is correct the 51 points we took in that year is equivalent to about 65 points when converted to 3 points per win and 38 games, so we are already comfortably above the final total. A fantastic achievement in the modern era in its own right regardless of the eventual outcome. In practice I think we are nailed on for first or second at least.
Izzy Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 I may be wrong but I'd bet money that I'm right and that article is wrong. I'm almost certain that one of our sides has to play a play off match and all four (or five if Liverpool win the EL) can't go straight into the group stages. So if Man City won the CL and the table finished like this: Tottenham Arsenal Leicester Man City Then it would be us in the CL play off. First time I've been wrong on here about anything, it happens to the best of us. Damn it. I should have taken that bet!!

Read more: http://www.footballseeding.com/european-cups/champions-league-seeding-16-17/ What happens if Liverpool don't win the Europa Cup, Man City win the CL and the table finishes like this: Tottenham Arsenal Leicester Man City Do we just have four teams in the group stage or would we not have to play a play off game?
Sleepy Fox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 It would be nice if one of the Madrid clubs won La Liga so that they would go in pot 1 as well. Barca will already be in pot 1 as defending champs.
americanfox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 It would be nice if one of the Madrid clubs won La Liga so that they would go in pot 1 as well. Barca will already be in pot 1 as defending champs. Uh, how can you be defending champs if you aren't in semi-finals of this year's competition?
Sleepy Fox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Uh, how can you be defending champs if you aren't in semi-finals of this year's competition? Oh shit, need more caffeine
Sleepy Fox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Uh, how can you be defending champs if you aren't in semi-finals of this year's competition? So reverse what I said. lets have Barca win La Liga and one of the Madrids win the UCL. Got it right that time.
AKCJ Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 I'm going to celebrate our CL group stage confirmation with a cup of coffee and a croissant that my Mum has just came round with. Bloody hell calm down you nutter.
Gerard Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 Bloody hell calm down you nutter. Rock n' roll baby. i live on the edge.
Jonezy Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 This is insane! Leicester in the champions league group stages.... Wow....
Bayfox Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 What happens if Liverpool don't win the Europa Cup, Man City win the CL and the table finishes like this: Tottenham Arsenal Leicester Man City Do we just have four teams in the group stage or would we not have to play a play off game? As I read it 4 teams in the group stage. Top 3 and cl winner enter at group stage. As the cl winner is allocated a group phase place. As mentioned that's uefa website and we are guaranteed group phase. But with uefa and fifa. Who knows
Guest LCFC_World Posted 20 April 2016 Posted 20 April 2016 This is amazing. I remember last season against Tottenham away, (3-2) everyone was singing "If your all going Derby clap your hands", or something along the lines of that. After that game, we went on a fantastic run which is still going on now. At the start of the season, if you offered this situation I would have payed to see it happen, so whatever happens we have still achieved something that is beyond what we could have imagined. The PL title is a bonus, but we might as well go for it now!

Guest LCFC_World Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 We lost 4-3 at spurs last season. So your memory isn't all that I knew it was a high scoring game! I remember it being before the west ham game which started our winning run so hopefully I'm right about that!
WigstonWanderer Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I knew it was a high scoring game! I remember it being before the west ham game which started our winning run so hopefully I'm right about that! Yes, it was. I always think of that match as the start of the great escape. We played very well and were extremely unlucky to lose IIRC. Weren't there some dodgy ref decisions?

We have to have an English side in the play offs whether we have four or five representatives. If we finish 3rd and Man City finish 4th and win the CL then the 3rd place side will be in the play offs. So we either need to finish above Arsenal or Tottenham and failing that hope Man City don't win the CL to be guaranteed of our place in the CL group stages.

It's a good thing you haven't placed a wager yet.If Man City finish fourth and win the Champions League, then Man City would go directly into the Group Stage and the 2015/16 Europa League winners would be moved down into the playoff spot that would otherwise go to England's fourth places team. In this case, England would have four representatives directly qualified for the Group Stage. If Man City and Liverpool both win their respective European titles, then Liverpool would be placed in the Playoff Round. Its still the same outcome as your previous post. The playoff doesn't go up to the 3rd place team it goes to the winner of the Europa league. Just accept it. We are in the group stages
bovril Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 The thought of thousands of sun-burned Leicestershireians in a Spanish plaza fills me with joy. "Una cerveza me duck".
