If his people are smart they'll realise what we've done with Mahrez, Kante and others and steer him here (if the money is right of course). He can go Barca in 2-3 years for £100m.

This could be this summer's Aranguiz. Shame Villa have gone down the toilet and Tim Sherwood has no job. I think we can offer more than Rudi V this time around.

A 100 pager?

There is no way that this will be a 100 pager.

He's not going to come here when he's got the pick of Europe.

Let's hope he hasn't got too big for his boots and feels he should be at a club like Barcelona now, after all he's only played 6 months of pro football and isn't quite 19 yet.

I'd like to think we could sell him the club as the best place for him to aid his development. He'll get a lot more game time here at a smaller but up and coming club and you only have to look at the waif and strays we've had here who have become top class players. You can make a case for Leicester being the best club for him to join at this stage in his career but whether he'll listen or not is debateable as most teenagers want it all now if they can get it.

You're probably right but there is also an argument that we could be the best club for him at this moment in time.

Or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

One thing though if the club have pursued him and Ranieri has called him to tell him of his desire to have him here then the Leicester hierarchy don't think this is a totally lost cause.

Where is that wunderkind that Barca or Real Madrid signed?

Definitely.

One thing we've not really done is take an academy prospect and bring him through to be a proper first team player.

Plenty of clubs (clubs that are interested in Dembele) have far better records of bringing through quality young players.

I wonder, are the people on here saying 'no way' the same ones who said 'no way' about Cambiaso.

Hardly a comparison, I can't remember Leicester fending off Bayern Munich & Barcelona to get Cambiasso's signature.

Literally couldn't be any more different.

We were fighting places like the MLS for Cambiasso rather than Champions League winners.

I think you missed the point. Yes, different players, yes, different circumstances, but the same doubts exist for our potential acquisition of players whom we would appear to many as having 'no chance' of signing. Cambiasso actually signed for us. This is about those geniuses who can ( in their dreams ) desire to convince people like me that we have no chance of attracting young prospective super talents, when we support a team who continually show the world that nothing is impossibe, or have you been asleep?

I'm not missing the point at all.

We attracted Cambiasso because we were the best option available to him.

Dembele will reject us because we're not the best option available to him.

It's nothing to do with "never say never" or anything like that. It's just that right now we're not up there with the European top dogs just because we've won the league.

Yes, we're goign to attract great players. But there will be some that are just too great for us (or at least they think they are).

All i'm saying is that optimism never hurt anyone, but lets keep realistic.

Wouldn't trust that GFFN source, plenty of bullshit rumours on their twitter feed.

It does have it as a direct quote though.  :(
