smr Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 The missus has been rummaging through some clothes and found my boy's 2013/14 shirt but it has got a thumb sized amount of paint on it and I'm just wondering how to get it removed safely, if at all possible? He's 5 now and bought when he was around 2 but it looks like it'll still fit him.
smr Posted 10 May 2016 Author Posted 10 May 2016 what kind of paint? Dunno mate tbh, probably matte or silk interior paint tho..
Strokes Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 If it's red paint, throw white on it. If it's white throw red over it. Same as wine. Any other colour then I'm afraid you are screwed.
Jace Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 hot water and washing up liquid usually for matt I think, anything tougher or gloss white spirit but can then potentially damage the shirt more
MrSpaM Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Really depends what sort of paint it is This might be helpful https://www.cleanipedia.com/gb/laundry-washing/get-paint-clothes
smr Posted 10 May 2016 Author Posted 10 May 2016 Buy him the new kit you tight bastard I did. Still wanna get this one lookin smart tho.
AyewJoking Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 looking at the pic it looks like a hot water/washing up liquid job. i had a shirt (not a leicester shirt) but similar material and i used above method, scrubbing with a dish cloth. i used blu-tac to lift the paint. didnt get all of it but was barely noticiable by the time i'd finished.
Strokes Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 That looks like a bogey to me, are you sure it's paint?

AyewJoking Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 actually, white spirit from poundland is so crap it might actually be safe for the material. That looks like a bogey to me, are you sure it's paint? yeah, it passed the taste test.
smr Posted 10 May 2016 Author Posted 10 May 2016 cheers for the pointers will try the least abrasive methods hopefully sorts it out.
Webbo Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 White spirit won't remove paint once it's dry and not at all if it's emulsion. Best best is trying to scrape if off with your thumb nail and sticking it in a hot wash.
smr Posted 10 May 2016 Author Posted 10 May 2016 Was your son a 2 year old giant? ha, the kids shirt sizes are a bit out of kilter, for the 2016/17 kit I've had to get him 3-4 years even though he was 5 in march, and that's still a bit big for him shirt wise. this one with the paint on says UK 2-2.5 yrs on the label..
TeamRocket Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 You can try clean sprint its like white sprint but had no hash camisoles or suger soap but i would try it on a different top 1st just so u reaction 1st
pazzerfox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Removes the stain job without removing the paint job. Who does ya tampons?
Merging Cultures Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 You can try clean sprint its like white sprint but had no hash camisoles or suger soap but i would try it on a different top 1st just so u reaction 1st I love a harsh camisole me. A nice harsh, short camisole with lots of lace.
smr Posted 11 May 2016 Author Posted 11 May 2016 It's a long job whatever you do. Essentially it's breaking up the paint so it comes away from the fibres in the material. I would search the net for advice and for specific solutions. Too much rubbing will release some of the colour and damage the fabric. Too harsh solvents will also do the same. If it's emulsion then repeated hot washes will eventually weaken the matrix of the paint.Best of luck. thanks
kingcarr21 Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 Get a blue marker and colour it in nobody will ever know
