ScouseFox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 gotta say i didnt know the french were such nutters. i knew there was tension in most french cities between rich and poor, immigrants and generational french and a lot of wasted youths but they're well up for this. taking on both the irish and the poles in nice, the russians and the english in marseille, wonder where's next. obviously russia is full of nutters but france is looked upon as a pretty forward thinking, functional country. got its "hidden" problems too it seems. who'd have thought that south africa, poland, ukraine and brazil can all pass with basically no threat to the english and we pop across the border for a jolly weekend in our campervans and suddenly the world wants us dead.

But seriously, the organisation and brutality of the attacks are making me suspect there is more to it then simple hooliganism. The Russian media are hailing today as some sort of 'victory'. This is beginning to stink of state-sponsored acts of violence. They are military trained most of them ! And many had no tickets stayed in town fighting Lens and Lille only 30 mins apart , this could move north this week

Yet I see no mention of any of this in any media reports, not just the England stuff, but the Northern Ireland/Poland stuff too. Anyone else that is there that can confirm this? Or any idea why the media are quiet on this?

The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 On the odd occasion England fans had started any trouble on the Friday (I think it kicked off massively 4/5 times where we were around the Queen Vic pub) the police arrived incredibly quickly and weren't afraid to get their batons and gas out. Yesterday when about 200 Russians pounced there was a running street battle with England for probably at least 30mins before the police arrived. The Russians attacked from about 4 areas 100% well organised. On the long walk from the ground after the game back into town it was probably the scariest time. Didn't see any trouble but was waiting to be jumped at any second. It's not been fun
