Labour party civil war

One thing is clear, either the hard left or moderate centre left is leaving the Labour party. No one can they reconcile after this.

They're all arguing and fighting on Twitter, McDonnell again being accused of encouraging Momentum activists to harass other MP's, the leadership election could be the nastiest in history.

It's the progressive way.

This is why he needs to stand down asap. If he cares about the party more than his own career and the weird cult that is Momentum, he'll admit that he's never going to be PM and do the right thing.

This.

Unfortunately through all the bullshit, he's out for himself like all the others.

Corbyns economic policies are still better than the current Ideology.

To think somebody who has "No chance" has the establishment and everybody so scared of him that the post about it so often trying to knock him down.

I don't think he's the solution, but the Electorate are waking up to the fact he represents a society we would all prefer to live in.

The right thing being Let the Blairites back into power?

Because that is what will happen if he steps down.

i don't want to impinge on private grief ..but staying politically "pure" will mean the end of  Labour as a national party.. .grown ups come to realize that  life / politics is the art of the possible..... not the impossible dream...that is why corbyn was a back bencher  for 30 years.. remember in the long run we are all dead.. corbyn would rather crash the car than hand over the keys..as I knew he would..

Despite all the nonsense about him being a man of principle I think it's pretty clear he's out for himself, had he really cared he would have resigned his seat when Blair took charge and joined the Greens or something, but that wouldn't get him elected.

This is going to be one hell of a war though, these people are not going anywhere quietly, they'll happily destroy the party before they hand it back over to anybody else (or the Blairites as the cliche goes lol) and if you lose the leadership vote I really don't see what you can do except spilt and form a new political party, there is a huge area there now for something with the Tories possibly edging right and the Lib Dems being led by a cub scout.

Ed Miliband eh? He's even haunting the party now over a year after he has gone. Any Tories who signed up to vote for Corbyn certainly got their £3 worth!

Maybe after the Tory split following their acrimonious campaign the middle englanders can get together an aquamarine party.

Certainly a possibility that those from the centre of both parties do come together, Ken Clarke and Liz Kendall have far more in common than Corbyn and Kendall or Clarke and Johnson.

One thing I realised in the EU ref was my politics are far closer to the working class Labour "leavers" ie Stuart, Mann and Field than "remainers" like Cameron and Osborne, a new party will the names I mention from Labour could be a real force across the country if it can detach itself from the London centric metropolitan liberals, students and teachers that now seem to think they have a hold over left wing politics and look at the Northern working towns and people with distain.

I'll leave that for the time being though as I'm intending to do a seperate thread on how the EU ref has changed own our personal politics.

I kinda think JC has had a rough baptism.

The wider party was all for him but the Cabinet not so much which I think has impeded him on a number of levels.

I'm no JC advocate particularly but it seems he's also got much less media attention than other shadow prime ministers since his appointment.

I also note that the more left wing publications inclusive of the Guardian who had a new editor a while back seems to lack support for JC and have an agenda which I'm sure has contributed to this.

I think he wants to shake up the part but his views are not supported so he needs his own staff if he has a hope of achieving any of his goals.... whatever they are when they become clear!

He needs to lead now - this is his chance the coming couple of weeks will be pivotal as to wether he stays/goes or the party splits.

That video of him wondering whether to clear the cameras out just shown on Sky shows a man doesn't really seem to know where he is let alone in any control, actually a little bit sad to watch.

He kept shouting for Seumas like a lamb crying for it's mother, is he the one running things?

Tom Watson's face in the background :(

Guess that depends on what your preference is.

Your own utopian Labour party or one that can be in no.10

Oh no not council houses and infrastructure projects! Next step will be gulags and concentration camps if we let this guy in power!

"Seumas, I'm not sure this is a good idea"

If he does see this off you can carve that into the Labour party headstone (And for that you can use the Edstone)

Yeah it's funny, I was saying exactly the same thing to my brother last night.

Please do, the referendum has caused all sorts of role reversals

I think there could be enormous leverage for a centre-left pro Europe party.

Hopefully, Labour will be that party but it requires Corbyn to see the reality of his position and Momentum to fvck off and create their own cult.

I will do tomorrow Wookie.

Corbyn loses no confidence vote, 172-40. Pretty tragic.

Watson or Eagle to stand against him, not a great selection to say the least from a party that has Umanna, Jarvis and Johnson but obviously better than Corbyn.

Surely they will wait for David Miliband ?

You really think this Labour party membership of 2016 is going to vote for a Blarite centrist candidate? Absolutely no chance unless all the hard left decide to leave.

Liz Kendall stood on that and got less than 5% of the vote.
