Blue Ed Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I'm looking forward to this season and seeing the new players. Really excited by the prospect of Musa Vardy and Marhez playing together. I think Mendy will be an excellent DM and a great fit in next to Danny. Kapusta, Hernendez both look decent. I dont know what other here want but if we're challenging for a top 4 spot that would be another great season and show we're building.

This isn't the who can show the least faith in the best team in England competition, you need to get yourself over to Sky or the BBC for that. But the thing is, saying that last season will never happen again is literally true!!!
Foxhateram Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 The thing is with last season, is that it happened because of the unity of this squad. So this window we had to get a balance, a balance of keeping the squad and the title winners happy (Don't they deserve it after all?), while also bringing in a few players to deepen the squad. We have bought in some really good young and promising players who i think will grow into great assets. This season is almost going to be another building block to a bright future. Anything above 7th is a huge bonus, but I don't think it will be a disappointment if we finish somewhere between 7th and 10th. Be patient Singh. I honestly think we can build again into another title challenge, but we have to build on the amazing squad we have, not replace it.

This season and the last are far different, this season he has to try and and had on to the title which is significantly different to taking advantage last season to win one How am I being silly when you are asking if Ranieri has done enough? I presume you mean this summer but even so it's a pretty ridiculous think to say considering bar the champions league, everything could go completely tits up and the guy is still an absolute hero.

Assuming all has been done in the background to get superstars/appropriate players to us, I believe Claudio or club has under sold Kante, we are weak squad wise, and although there is time, I feel uncomfortable and we will be a laughing stick I. The champ league. This for me was a chance to excel and try to be a top 4 team and be a major team in the Prem. I know Claudio plays us down, I just hope he has another plan to make us great. I think, unless we capitalise we will forever be relegation fodder, which is for me unforgivable We just won the league with a team that were favourites for relegation and I doubt we will ever be a laughing stock after what we achieved. Just out of interest, who would you have signed in this window to try to become 'a top 4 team'?? Just curious, as I really don't think because we won the league and have some money, we can now compete with the "bigger" clubs for signing the usual top 4 type players. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing for a long time either, and we will probably always have to do our business a little different to the bigger clubs and wow did that pay of last season! I am disappointed (but not surprised!) that one of our own fans can be writing us off and be concerned we could be a laughing stock after what we achieved only months ago! We should all still be buzzing and believing anything is possible with this special team and manager!
ian_marshall Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I can kind of see where you are coming from but I think it's unfair to criticise Ranieri, especially with a title that says 'Has he done enough' - he won us the Premier League title, I think that's more than enough! As for recruitment I think sustainability is at the heart of the clubs decision making. Yes, it was an opportunity to go and splash the cash on so called superstars but the issue is despite us being PL Champions we don't have the infrastructure or heritage to attract the very top players over other teams in the league at this moment in time. If we took this approach we'd therefore end up with lots of big name signings on big wages that have a history of underachieving, no desire, and potentially jeopardise the future of the club. Essentially we'd be like Chelsea last season, but without the resource to turn the situation around. In all honesty whilst I think there is still work to be done and I'm intrigued to see who fills the void left behind by Kante, I think we've recruited well. The squad looks much deeper, the players that we've brought in look like they have the ability to enable us to seamlessly switch between starters and second string so we're not overly reliant on the same players, and we've added quality young players into the mix. The last point is the one that really stands out for me, as we've acquired some very very good young players. If we can keep Mahrez and add a couple more additions, in 3 years time this team could be unstoppable.

Guest Col city fan Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 My son is wiser than his years. We were chatting about the forthcoming season on the car phone as I as was driving over to the East Coast last night. I was suggesting Andy King would probably not be good enough in many games, that few of our signings excited me etc etc. Our kid just said..."nah ain't having that...who'd have thought the likes of Simpson, Albrighton etc would have done what they did last season"? Very true....gotta give em time again and not just plough in with negativity. In other words Dr Singh, shut the fook up...

I feel reasonably happy with the signings, albeit they will need some time to gel.
davieG Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I think Kante leaving for CL less Chelsea should tell everyone where we are in the PL hierarchy A one off PL title and first foray in the CL will not be enough to divert the thoughts of established and future known stars to think of LCFC as the place to go when they've spent their last few years dreaming of playing in the PL with the Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Happy Fox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Kante is one player that decided he wanted to go. We are not a one man team yes he was a very important player dont get me wrong but I think it's a huge diservice to our other players. I still think we will bring in two more players, and I am looking forward to this season very much and Ranieri's mentality is still the same get 40 points then build from that.

Ric Flair Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I used to crave a plethora of signings every year but truth be told the only teams that do it are the perennial underachievers or new regimes. We've slowly built up this phenomenal team spirit within this squad and sometimes it's not obvious. Just leave it to Ranieri and the management team to keep us ticking over, we've done alright so far. Last summer I thought our recruitment was fairly mediocre on paper and we've pissed the league, let's not fall in to the trap that we need household names. Our unbelievable bond and system of play will match or better that. I still think we'll bring in 2 more players which if it's a defender and a midfielder then we are all set.
Babylon Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 You're going wrong by expecting us to be a top 4 team consistently. To cement a position like that takes money and silly amounts of it. They are teams that regularly pump £30/40m and 150k a week + on players. There is simply no way to compete with that as we don't have the money. So wise investments and good management is our best bet, and that's what we continue to do. There are a few positions we could have done with more, but the window is still open. So let's wait and see. But to suggest the squad is weak I just don't get. Compare pre Christmas squad last season with this one and we've lost kram and Kante and signed Gray, Amertey, kapustka, Hernandez, musa, mendy, zieler. You can field two decent teams now, with lots of young talent who will only improve.
Tielemans63 Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I wondered how long it would be before Ranieri became fair game for criticism again, must admit I thought the season would have at least actually started before he started getting stick. Jeez.
