4-3-3/3-4-1-2

I'd take any formation that helps us to protect the back 4 more but also allows us to still be effective and creative when attacking. Today we missed both of those things massively.

For me we have to move to 3-4-1-2 because we don't have another right back in the squad and now Simpson has tore his hamstring. (Please don't tell me Hernandez can play right back because I mean a proper right back, not a centre back that can fill in there.)

This season teams are doubling up on Riyad and in some cases even bringing 3 men over to nullify Riyad. It means he's not even in the game and when he does get the ball he just runs in to traffic.

Playing Riyad behind the strikers also frees him of most of the defensively responsibility he has on the right in a 4-4-2. I'd just let the lad have a crack there and say go roam about the pitch and just impact the game. If it doesn't work try Kapustka or Gray in that role.

I also think Albrighton is a better wing back than he is an out and out winger.

I'd like us to try the below against Brugge. Can't get any worse than the Liverpool game in reality can it? They should have beat us 6/7-0 if it weren't for Kasper making some great saves and Craig Pawson not knowing the rules to chalk off Vardy's tap in.

Kasper

Morgan

Huth

Fuchs

Albrighton

Drinkwater

Amartey

Chilwell

Mahrez

Slimani

Vardy

I'd stick with the 4-4-2 for Club Brugge, what we need to do is defend as a team again like we did last season. I think some players are taking it too easy and aren't putting 100% in. Drinkwater and Vardy being good examples of not looking in the best of fitness, the reasons why I don't know.

Simple things like tracking the runners and switching the play quickly to get the attack going, both of which we were so good at last year, isn't happening so far and due to that we've been found out when teams have attacked us.

hopefully the players pull their fingers out after being outplayed and outclassed yesterday, reflect on what we collectively did wrong as a team and sort it out before Wednesday.

not going to overeact and take this defeat as a cause for panic just yet, see how we fare midweek and then home to Burnley, I'm confident Ranieri will get us playing again.

hopefully iv got my point across in a way that makes sense lol

442 is fine, Amartey will be fine.

We looked secure and confident against Arsenal and Swansea. Hull was ring rust and embarrassing but yesterday? Eh. It's one game.

The same fixture last year would have been equally bad if any of their players could have finished, we were shit.

I know wild over reaction is what we do on FT but some of you really need to calm down.

Nearly as embarrassing as your post?

My post wasn't as embarrassing as our performance.

Who is our cover at RB? Hernandez and Chillwell? Was? Are we totally skullduggered?

We haven't got cover. Well, Hernandez obviously yes but he's not a natural full back. And then say we lose Morgan or Huth. We're relying on another aging centre half (Wasyl) to come in.

Dropping Schmeichel? Why?

I think he's always been a bit erratic in his decision-making, his reflexes and kicking have saved him and us more often than not to compensate for it.

Yesterday seemed to be a case of him feeling the heat with some top-class (or same-level) competition pushing for a starting spot.

I 'd also say that he was rushed back in to the starting XI too early, but that's just my opinion.

He kept us in the game yesterday. Without him making his body big we'd have lost 6 or 7. Their fourth goal was stupid, mind, I don't know what he was doing that high up that pitch.

If Kasper Schmeichel was on the level of De Gea or Cech he wouldn't be playing for us. He's a top 6-8 PL keeper but he's not world class and he has flaws in his game. I still like him and prefer him as our first choice.

4-4-2 is not so bad when disciplined but our 4-4-2 ends up more often than not 4-2-2-2 one twos or simple passes ca simply bypass our midfield. We got away with it last year because of the intense pressing in the final third. That part of our game has gone so to be more effective we have to 1) press as last season or 2) change formation.

Where has this myth that Mahrez is no good playing centrally come from? He played well against Palace at home last season in that position and was exceptional against Southampton at home in the 14/15 season.

I'd like to see us try Mahrez centrally if he's willing to. I've said this before and still believe it now, Albrighton would be more effective for us if he were to play at RM, he wouldn't have to keep cutting inside like he does at the moment. If I recall correctly, when Marc came into the side back in the 2014/15 great escape he was excellent at RM, he played the RWB role and was superb. I'd like to see him on the right side again at some stage as I feel he could be great again in that position. That's not to say he's bad at LM, I just believe he could be more effective on the right.

We don't have the personnel to play an efficient 442.That formation suits a ball retention captable team, not us.

Since we are going to give more than 60% of possession to the opposition, why don't we play a 4-5-1 like any gifting squad would ?

                  Kasper

Anybody Morgan Huth Fuchs

               Amartey

Allbrighton Drinkwater  Musa/Okazaki

                Mahrez

           Slimani/Vardy

The extra men in the midfield will prevent us from being constantly flooded at the back.

Mahrez just behind the striker will draw defenders at, thus allowing the wing-men some pocket of spaces to cut through.

both these points are spot on, i definately made this topic over reacting to yesterday lol it doesn't matter what formation we play. 4-4-2 is what we know, we just need to defend better as a team like you say.
