Harry - LCFC Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 I despair when people suggest that going through in a competition might be a bad thing. Our reserves will play, therefore this competition will not negatively impact our success in others.
China Black Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 I think progressing to the next round is important. Onwards and Upwards!!
adejo92 Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 I think it would be crazy to ever say we didn't want to stay in this cup. I appreciate we have a lot on at the minute with CL however there will always be players in the team that will benefit from playing. Plus, if we get knocked out of the CL, we can field a stronger team for this competition further down the line. I don't see why we should put all of our eggs into the CL basket because if we then got knocked out of that we would end up with no other cups to fight for.
Bernieboots76 Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 Yes of couse we want to progress we need to take each competition seriously, success breeds success and that's what we need to remember. We have a good squad to use for all the competitions that we are in but I hope the tinker man does not tinker too much. You could rest Vardy or whoever tomorrow bring them back on Saturday only for them to get injured in the warm up for example. if they are injured or carrying a knock then yes don't play them but we don't need to change the whole 11 the players surely aren't tired after just 6 games.
shailen Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 We do want to progress but we should play only our second team and see what we can do.

Is the FA Cup like penalties and don't count now?
Crinklyfox Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 I hope that we progress but it will be difficult against Chelsea. There should be a lot of players who are disappointed that they don't make the starting XI for PL games, this gives them the ideal opportunity to show what they can do and potentially force themselves into the PL side.
Mezeker Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 What kind of thread is this. I want to see Kapustka, gray, musa, and chilwell as much as i can.
jayfox26 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 I say yes. I think it's right we play the reserves but we should still aim to win. We know we won't be able to challenge for the title this season but a good season for me would be getting through to the knockouts of the champs league, top 10 in the league and a decent run in the other 2 cups. I think the challenge tonight will be that Chelsea will play a strong side and maybe only make 2 or 3 changes where we might change the whole team. Will be interesting as the fringe players will want to stake a claim to be starting more regularly, especially players like Musa, Gray and Schlupp (if he's fit)
crazyleicester Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Got to agree with the consensus here. We have a really big squad and need to keep players happy. Already Okazaki has had a semi moan about being left out of the CL squad for Brugge and you would imagine Ulloa`s patience will be wearing thin as he is now 5th choice striker. Then there is Musa who was quoted about looking forward to playing with Vardy and them two as a partnership now looks a million miles away with Slimani`s arrival. Im desperate for Chilwell to not rot on the bench either. Ive only mentioned a small part of why but basically we need as many games as possible for these lads to impress and improve. To be honest I wanted an easy home draw so the lads could get more game time opportunities but we`ll have to dismantle Chelsea instead!!
sk3since03 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 A win is a win but wouldnt be overly devasted if we went out tonight Would prefer a good run in the FA cup
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 The number of people who are saying, "don't care if we go out of this nothing tournament" and then the after match reaction when we did.
