Trump, for the memes.

A trump presidency would be funny, until you remember he's an idiot and should be kept as far away from a nuclear arsenal as possible. Say what you like about Clinton, but she's far closer to a competent candidate

If you're just electing a president, then they're both pretty awful.

If you're electing the party behind them too and allowing others in that party to forward policy that might be made into legislation...then Dems every time.

So...Hillary, while holding nose.

The Dems who have created more national debt than all the other previous governments put together, have ignored genocide across the World and who have bombed more countries than George Bush Jnr?

The Dems are a shambles, if it wasn't for having a buffoon up for President they would be done for, you'll get twelve years of Republican government after four years of Killary.

The repubs that started a ground war costing countless billions of dollars based on a lie? The repubs that throughout recent history have backed dictators that carry out those genocides, rather than merely ignoring them?

Even if what you said (and my response) wasn't entirely subjective, I'd still take that over the creationist, anti science fundy loons that form up most of the Repubs and their domestic social policies to inhibit the freedom of women and other groups in the name of legislating morality and a book written by other men thousands of years ago.

Pence being a key example.

Yet you are probably going to subject yourself to that for a long time after this backing Clinton.

(although I wouldn't vote for Trump either so that's not an endorsement)

That is an argument that has been made to me by a few Bernie or Bust folks; get Trump in now, boot him in four years and save a lot of trouble down the line if and when Hillary fails.

It could be salient - only time will tell - but I'm not really convinced. The repubs tried to go with the clean-cut older white social conservative in 2008 and 2012 and it did them no good, I'm not sure if it will do in the future either. Too little appeal amongst too few demographics.

I've heard it from them as well, I actually laughed it off at the start but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.

Those two clean cut white Conservative would be heading for the whitehouse now if they were running and given a US president's approval ratings are always highest at the start, Clinton is in for a disastrous defeat in four years and that's even if she does a half decent job.

Coamparing anyones result to Obama is irrelevant, it was his time, he had a Christ like following and no one in history would have beaten him.

If I was forced to it would be Trump. His protectionist rhetoric is stupid but he at least understands the burden of regulation and taxes on individuals and companies. He also appears to be less inclined to intervene abroad unlike the hawkish Clinton.

George Washington?

I feel it is the argument Michael Moore is making in his weird video thingy on the other thread.

I do remain unconvinced about the Repubs chances in 2020, can they put up someone who will say the right things to the social conservatives and really convince enough women and members of minority groups to either stay at home or be turkeys voting for Christmas? They need that to win, and I guess we'll find out.

Easily, the damage one to Clinton by then will be beyond repair.

I think things are too polarised between the different demographics over there now, but it could happen.

We're going to find out in any case because I really can't see Clinton losing from here this year barring some utterly catastrophic discovery within the next two weeks.

I can't see it either.

Although I think the way society has tried to smear Trump supporters and mock and degrade them I'm sure his vote in secret will be far higher than the polls, but I don't think it will be enough to win.

politics throughout the world is BULLSHIT!

I recommend watching "The Trap" by Adam Curtis (i think thats his name) quote enlightening imho

Would choose neither sadly.

Too many flaws with Trump, a large majority based on his outlandish personality. His views have caused a lot of anger and there's actually a strong chance of national security being threatened with just what he says.

With Clinton, just appears she's popular as her husband was a president himself. Don't think she has the drive to make changes/make things happen. Also, I still question whether stress of the job will take poll of her health should she get it.

I would pick Trump over Cllnton, but they are both dreadful choices, either of which could well be disastrous for the USA.

It makes me cringe to know one of them will be president. A bad day for America is looming.
