An open letter to people who haven't got a clue

We lost one player when many thought we'd lose several. I think our player retention was very good. That's not a crisis.

We've been unlucky in that the man who is supposed to be taking Kante's spot in the team has been injured. There's nothing we could do about that and now we're having to regularly play the promising Amartey earlier than we'd have maybe liked, so we're having to deal with the inconsistency that inexperience brings. A crisis? No.

Again we've been unlucky with Kasper being injured and have had to replace him with the not quite so good, but still capable Zieler temporarily. Crisis? No.

We've got a highly rated youngster who came from abroad in the squad who Claudio doesn't think is ready yet for the first team. Crisis? No.

We're dominating our champions league group and have played most of our tough away games in the league already. We've had a couple of disappointing results, that's it. Everything else is as rosy as I can remember and I've been a fan since the late 80's. We are nowhere near a crisis.

Going down at Stoke on the final day of the season was a crisis

not having enough money to pay the tea lady was a crisis

Peter Taylor was a crisis

being top of our group in the CL virtually certain of qualification to the last 16 & a poor start to the season in the prem is not a crisis.

We were too loyal to average players.

We gave bigger contracts to anybody who wanted one. (Nobody in our squad is worth 100k a week).

We lost our best player and didn't replace him.

We performed so poorly in the transfer market.

Our style of play is very poor. (Even Watford played football).

Players seem like they aren't bothered (And only two came over to clap after the game yesterday - yeah cheers for that we've come all this way for another shite performance).

Playsrs don't even look like they know what to do.

We're currently 2 points above bottom 3.

So don't tell me "I haven't got a clue"... We are truly awful and messed up the best opportunity this club has ever been in.

This is all true.

I for one however, will not be turning on the manager in the foreseeable future as galling as it all is at present.

Compared to last season we are!

stats dont lie.

Last season Dec 17th chelsea got rid of mourinho stats w4 d3 L9.

We are going exactly the same way

Ranieri out come christmas?

Stats mean nothing in this comparison. Mourinho had lost the players and was making ridiculous statements in pre/post match interviews exacerbating the situation. It was untenable and was inevitable. Ranieri, as far as I understand still has the players and owners support, and isn't hanging them out to dry in the press.

Last season a MIRACLE happened. It happened to us. A beautiful MIRACLE.

Now it is back to reality. We are a middling size club that dreams of glory. Just like many other middling sized clubs that dream of glory. Difference is that it actually happened to us. Unless miracles have a habit of repeating themselves we are & have always been extremely unlikely to repeat the aforesaid MIRACLE.

I am & have always been very proud to follow my middling size club & will forever be grateful for what happened 2015 -2016.

The only way to continue this unbelievable ride is to prioritise the Champions league & progress as far as we possibly can in the competition. OK this may or may not happen but FFS our poor league start to 2016 - 2017 in the league will be forgotten by the rest of the world in no time when a run or even a freak result or two against Europe's big teams could possibly result in another MIRACLE.

Point being, supporting a club is all about dreams of glory, not getting your knickers in a twist because we have a bad start to a season & some of the SHITE I've read on this forum tonight is bewildering to put it mildly.

Rant over, off to my kip.

A very good post, and to the point.

It doesn't take much before the pessemists begin their ranting. Let's wait and see where we are at the end of the season, before the knives come out.

The difference is last year we were scoring goals for fun putting the other team on the backfoot, this year were not. Blame the strikers, it's their job to score goals.

What's the point then? Nothing can be worse than getting relegated to the third tier so how about we just lose every game this season?

You can't keep looking back. Everything in the past is in the past, including last season.

This season we've been incredibly poor - somewhat embarrassing - and our disappointing summer activity means we're left with very little options to actually change it. It's not just results, it's performances. Yet some of you still weirdly don't criticise anything when it's infront of you.

It's the players who deserve the most stick. They are letting the boss down.

Claud has made some mistakes but in principle he's not doing an awful lot different to last season. The players are earning ridiculous wages and we're not working as hard as West Brom who I'd assume pay their players with ready meals.

We talk about a miracle but actually it was down to talent, intelligence and application. They've still got the talent but we're letting ourselves down with the other 2.
