Players set for £100k Leicester Champions League Bonus......

......according to the Daily Mail

Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa is guaranteed a £100,000 bonus by his English Premier League club Leicester City at the end of the season after the Foxes reached the Champions League knockout stages.

But the largesse could rise further if the team progresses in the competition, according to the Daily Mail

Musa missed out on the BMW i8 cars presented all Leicester City players by their Thai chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in August for winning the PL title last season. The Nigerian joined the club this summer fron CSKA Moscow.

Leicester will receive €5.5million (approximately £4.6m) from UEFA for taking part in the round of 16, with €1.5m (£1.3m) per group win and €500,000 (£420,000) per group draw also due to the English champions, adding €6.5m (£5.6m) to their overall prize money after collecting 13 points.

Daily Mail says Leicester players will get roughly a quarter of this total pool, equating to €3m (£2.5m), which divided between the 24 Champions League squad members comes to just over £100,000.

The bonus scheme is standard practice among Champions League teams, but is new to Leicester given this is their debut participation in the tournament.

just as long as they keep performing on the pitch and are still motivated. success deserves reward and the more successful you are the bigger the rewards will be.

Some will understand that most won't and will see it as reward for being bad in the prem.

Whilst it would take me several years to earn that sort of money, it's a weeks wages to some of the squad.  I don't see how £100k would be a massive incentive to the majority of the team.  The thrill of the Champions League is what motivates them, not a relatively small sum of money.  Vardy probably carries that sort of money in his wallet.

It's peanuts (to them)

And people wonder why the players have seemingly prioritised the champions league.... hopefully now that's in the bank we'll kick on in the league

They will have an even larger deal for the PL - it will staged as per position from 17th into incremental payments.

If that is what has been motivating them, bonus £ in CL, then they'll probably request better weekly wage to keep them more interested in the PL campaign.

I read Roy Keanes book the other day and he was talking about his time at Ipswich where he changed the bonus scheme to an end of season lump sum for hitting targets i.e winning competitions etc as he didn't think rewarding players for doing there jobs winning games was right as they were already on hefty wages.... he also said 1 thing he didn't think about was that staff members not being paid anywhere near the kind of sums the players were paid also lost out, it could be a similar type of incentive here where the staff are highly motivated to get the best out of the lads as it would financially benefit them.... may be nothing in it as Ipswich when he was manager and where we are now are poles apart but still you never know!!! All I do know is we don't look arsed in the league yet look more on it in he CL all I did was throw out a reason,

regardlessof of how much they're on 100k is still massive insentive for 6 games no matter what u think
