NewEnglandFox Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 We need someone to be our shining light but I have a hard time seeing him being it. While I'd prefer to start him over the other members of our strike force, he's still the best of a bad bunch. For him to be effective we need to find a way to get the ball in the box and for him score we need a forehead seeking missile of a cross at him. I think our shining light will come from the guy(s) who help us get the ball up the pitch and deliver the final ball, not the guy who does his work in the box, and pretty much only in the box. He also has a knack for being unavailable, in 29 competitive games since we bought him he has 14 starts and 2 sub appearances through AFCON, injury, and illness. 16/29 appearances likely to be 16/31 by next weekend.
the fox Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 I see people saying slim is not an open play threat. Well, we are seeing how much of a threat is a player that scored 24 goals last season is on this team. Slim never got a pass that put him 1 on 1 with the keeper in his time with the club. But the reason that some people here are optimistic is because he is the only striker that is easy to play to his style. Just put it in the air and he will score. And why are people unhappy with us changing play style because of him?. If it works then stick with it. People are just mad at him because he is not a flashie striker with a great ball control. Strikers with a great goal scoring record and a great technical ability are not exactly dreaming of playing with Leicester.
chicagofox Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 Slimani is our best striker by a country mile. On all but one seasons form, Vardy is nowhere near his level.
Lovejoy Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 Luis Suarez would look sh1t with our football, no forward of ours will be able to offer anything until we can actually build an attack and the midfielders and fullbacks offer something.

Seems like when he is playing Albrighton is either on the left (=shit), or not on the pitch. By my count once, vs West Ham, where that combination produced the winner.

Eagle10 Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 Guys, I am a Sporting Club fan and a Slimani fan. I tell you one thing, he was perhaps one of the best strikers we have ever had, and I dont understand why does he get slated on this forum by many members. He his your best striker by a country mile in terms of stats and has been playing why better than any of your strikers. You clearly miss him when he isn't on the field, go see your winds this season and your losses, and then see when he plays you have way better results than when he isn't on the field. Saying this he hasn't been amazing, not even close to amazing, but for a player in adaptation to the PL and to the club he has been way better than most of the members say. Also you have to understand that your team is clearly under performing and because of that every striker that you put in will play worse than he should and not perform what he should, so I think you have to be patient and support your team because you can turn this back and start to win games, and most important I think you will finish in the top half of the table. And yes I do think Slimani is your "savior" just like he was for us.
Ian Nacho Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 We need him badly at the moment, we're not providing good enough service for Vardy but with Slimani he doesn't need good service as he's more likely to win balls in the air, also he can hold the ball up for players like Mahrez and Gray running in on goal.

Lots here are biased and only started to criticize Vardy although he's been shite the whole season, and living on the same scraps as Slimani. Some even rate Ulloa better than him (lol) just because he defends corners better in our own area, forgetting that the prime objective of a striker is, well, to score which Slim did. He's playing out of position to accommodate a striker completely out of form and people are slating him just because of that. Others link him to China. You wish, in any club playing decent football he's the guy who bags at least 15 in a season. I almost wish he'd go to another club where at least crosses and normal football are played, just to see him score and shut some mouths here. Don't understand why the club brought him if it's not to play him to his strenghts. Mind boggling transfers and tactics. What a mess.
Wymsey Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 He will be if he has good services, especially high-ball crosses, to him from the wingers happening more often as he's brilliant in the air; plus if he improves his footwork with the ball which has been poor thus far this season.

Spiritwalker Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 I think we average over 1 pt per game when he plays and well under 1 pt per game when doesn't play. That would suggest we would get enough points to stay up if he plays and not enough if he doesn't. His ongoing unavailability is a real worry.

He hasn't been poor with his feet, look the Man City game, 2 assists including one very good threw ball to Vardy. And an individual play that almost scored from so he hasn't been poor, just not as good as he can be. He doesn't have the best feet, but he has reasonable feet, he improved a lot his footwork in Lisbon so expect him to be way better.
Chester Dontlie Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 I don't know about Slim tomorrow but I googled "Slimani" and "light" for some inspirational pics and two rather fit ladies came up (wont link to them because NSFW) EDIT: apparently Slim's going to miss both Man Utd and Derby but will be ready for the Swansea game
ARM1968 Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 I'd play myself rather than Vardy at the moment and I've only got one working ankle. That and the fact I'm about 6 stone over weight.

He totally raved about Slimani. I was a big fan of Slim before, but now I am convinced he has a great future with us. How anyone can rate Vardy ahead of Slim at the moment is beyond me.

Mickyblueeyes Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 The only time we looked half decent in the last few weeks was the West Ham home game. Slimani was the focal point and his movement allowed Albrighton and more importantly, Mahrez have the same they needed to do some damage. If anything, when fit we have a better chance with him up top on his own with Gray Mahrez and Albrighton behind.
TMELcfc Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 When he's fit, **** Vardy off and play Albrighton and whip shit loads of crosses in. It's our only slight chance of staying up.
crazyleicester Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 We need him back in asap. AT least he scores and gives us some aerial threat to cope with this hoofball.
HoustonFox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 He's probably faking injury so he doesn't have to play again.
USFox Posted 5 February 2017 Author Posted 5 February 2017 We need him back ASAP. He's miles ahead of Vardy in terms of skill and scoring ability at the moment. We need him to score for us and open space up for Mahrez to start dominating again.
