Will Slimani be our shining light?

Looking at his stats while on the field with us, Slimani has been massive. In the relatively short amount of time he's played for us, he's one of our top scorers and one of the top in assists. He's a huge No. 9 type player that can score from a lot of different positions and has the best chemistry with Mahrez on the team. I feel like if we are going to avoid relegation, we need to focus on feeding him the ball through Mahrez and have him take on 2-3 defenders, which could be our answer to freeing up Mahrez and Vardy. What do you guys think?

Well he's out for the next 2 games at least so not for now anyway.

Errr....no he won't, certainly not this season. His footballing skills are too thin on the ground, turning to be a bit of a sick note too if Ranieri saying he is still unfit for Sunday is to be believed.

Gutted every time he can't play.

If only we could drop Vardy for Musa we might not miss him as much

Other than him always being injured or poorly and incapable of using his feet when he actually does play.....hes as good a chance as any.

Honestly I don't get the reason why we don't lob him the ball more, it's such an easy way for us to score.. As for playing on his feet, I don't think he's that bad at all, especially for his size. I think the player that would compliment him the most to play with would be Musa because he's a smaller forward who can use his feet and get Slimani the ball to score. Almost like an updated version of the Vardy-Okazaki role.

Told we were getting some Okazaki-Ulloa hybrid but he tends to spend the whole game lumbering around and moaning at the midfield in French. Needs to sort out his attitude because he seems like a ****.

I would play the traffic cones from Derby instead of vardy

. They showed more movement and certainly caused the police a few problems. Probably cheaper too.

Depends if we get him the ball. He tends to get about 1 decent cross every five matches from which he scores. Sadly we are generally incapable of getting into the opponents half let alone providing him with the type of cross he needs.

Will he ever play again?

Who'd have guessed he'd be fit enough for AFCON  but not fit enough when he gets back.

Of course his injury might be genuine. But if it was the AFCON final next up, I wonder if it would be so serious.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical.

I doubt we'll ever know.

But I do know this. If the Chinese "connection" is genuine and they will give £40 million for him. I'd sell at the first opportunity.

I'd play my Gran ahead of Vardy at the moment....

Haha - I'll see if my nephew Alex'll lead a strain of "Grandma's Party Tonight" at the United game!

I'm leaning towards yes. He's scored five league goals and is our top assister, with very questionable service thus far. Slimani would be in double figures if we as a team delivered crosses into the box like Albrighton did vs West Ham (H).

I think he is capable of hold up play but we shouldn't become too reliant on it, and on some occasions we have been. Playing long balls to him is ok on a few occasions where he might be able to relieve pressure but it shouldn't be ball after ball.

Some were saying they'd turn 30/40 even 50 million down for Slim.

I couldn't quite believe what I was reading.

Stats, shmats. Stats are exactly why we signed players like Hernandez and Musa, despite them being truly terrible footballers.

It's obvious I'm not Slimani's biggest fan. If you want someone to score when a cross lands on his head, he'll do a good job. But he offers nothing else, and that is a problem for us. It's not like he really puts himself about is it? He's just a rich man's Ulloa. I'm not convinced he's even any better than him.

At this level, for that money, in the position we were in when we were after him, and in a team which needs to play a certain way to be at it's best (which doesn't include hoofing it up to a big man) then I expect much, much more than what he offers.

Teams aren't going to stick 2-3 players on him anyway, they know he doesn't pose a threat from open play. If they can stop us getting into crossing positions, which is extremely easy for them at the moment, Slimani will be rendered absolutely useless. I'm aware Vardy has been just that this season, but at least he has the potential to scare the shit out of defenders and create something out of nothing.

I don't know what the answer is but it isn't Slimani. He's a striker who needs service which, unfortunately, we can't offer him.

He seems a half arsed player to me, the games against Porto, Burnley and West Ham he put a real shift in, the rest he looked disinterested.

I still think if we are going to stop up  we're going to need him as he  really is the only threat upfront as it stands.

Have we ever actually tried him with Albrighton on the right? Seems like when he is playing Albrighton is either on the left (=shit), or not on the pitch.

Yea and we beat West Ham thanks to them.

Still, Ranieri and most on here would rather shit on Slimani and keep playing the ineffective hoofball to Vardy because it worked last season.
