Guy Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Not sure how we missed a trick with this one but how did Southampton sign this tricky little number ahead of the current League Champions?! I'd have him over donkey Slimani any day, who I suspect only came here because of Mahrez's nudging! After today and the 'no shots on target' eye opener then the only way appears to be down as I see it at the moment, without my wanting to sound like a doom merchant! There certainly was some shambolic recruitment over the summer but maybe hindsight is a wonderful thing.......

Probably listened to everyone here who said he'd be a shitty Italian "claudio" signing because quote "NO GOOD PLAYERS HAVE EVER COME FROM ITALY"
matty98 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 No striker would thrive on the current service our team is providing.
AKCJ Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Slimani also had 2 goals from his first 2 games.
Dan Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Gabbiadini would do absolutely nothing in this side. Nor would the vast majority of forwards. I think we'd probably limit even Messi or Ronaldo to single figures.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Well he has done well in the two games... doesn't make him a world beater... Vardy did well in 38 games pretty much last season so...
Guy Posted 12 February 2017 Author Posted 12 February 2017 Maybe he's just hit the ground running like Slimani did for us early doors. To me he looks like a skilful, more forward version of Mahrez from last season from what I've seen so far but maybe with better service from the Southampton midfield so far.......!
splinterdream Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I have no idea how people can slate Slimani, he's barely had a chance to settle and he's getting into good positions, I'm not sure he's a partner to Vardy but that's not his fault is it
chapero82 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 We needed a creative midfielder not a striker

The extortionate £29 million price tag is not Slimani's fault I admit but I suppose an everyman would argue that he's been starved of quality service from those in midfield, as have our entire strikeforce, including Vardy and Okazaki - and on a lesser scale Ulloa too, whenever he's played. I think Ranieri's basically run out of ideas now and is just likely to be trusting his luck from now until the end (if he's still here by May). What an overnight mess!
Grewks Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 We've got two center halves unable to physically compete at this level anymore, an extremely limited right back, a non-existent central midfield and wide men who, well, they've been terrible. Slimani is 'too good' for us.
lgfualol Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Yea he'd really thrive off Wes 'Pirlo' Morgan's long balls.
Guest Cujek Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 How many more pointless threads about players we "missed"? Fact is if they wanted to come here they would be here, they didn't so they are at the clubs they are at, get over it.
