Could be Cliff Ginetta....
TheSomersetFox Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 His comments have done absolutely nothing to help the club. I can't believe he actually watches us if he really means what he's been saying. Gone down in my estimations anyway.

No doubting he's a genuine fan but he's also become a lot more vocal on all matters LCFC since we returned to the Prem. Let's not forget that he also outed Pearson as having been sacked by one of the chairmen but then reinstated by the other (which completely undermined Pearson and the club). Now leading a campaign of ill-will towards the club's decision. Leaves a bit of a sour taste. exactly this.

Whether it be Taggart (who agreed with the sacking), Elliot, Walsh, Marshall, Cottee, Savage, Piper, McAlister (recently spoke about us) - but the mainstream media aren't going to be interested in these players when Gary Lineker is voicing his opinion. He's one of our greats, one of the Countries greats and works in the media. Mainstream media will always look for Lineker's opinion first because he's the biggest name. In fact, Marshall has been criticising them lately. And then last night came out with "so if you don't win the league at Leicester you get sacked?" which is a ridiculous comment. Media don't pick stuff like that up though do they.
Guest Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Peter Shilton is just about the only balanced view I've heard.

It's not simply a case of "voicing an opinion". It's a case of leaking information which undermines the club (as he did with the Pearson stuff) and which he'd only have got through his position/profile. It's also a case of being well aware of how your opinion might influence the image of the club (during what could be considered a PR disaster). Most ex-players have a position as just that but do not position themselves as super fans so their opinions will be taken as professional punditry not as fan opinion. At worst, he's underhand. At best, he's naive.

MPH Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Love lineker but hate to say it, he's becoming a little bit of an attention seeking media hore... ever since he got some attention and adulation for tweets with regards to brexit/ immigration he seems to be going after the title of ' the people's champion'

Richard Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 He's a fan of the club and is entitled to his opinions, just like all of us are on here. Don't particularly agree with him all the time, and is pissing me off that he has now become some sort of unofficial voice for the fans. However one of the club's greats and saved us back in 2002 so deserves everyone's respect

What makes what he's doing any different? I disagree with him but don't have a problem with him writing it.

Or the numerous Tweets and interviews he's given in the past 9 months? Reality is that he's probably been to less games than 90% of people on this message board within the last 10 years.
ozvaldo Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 I'm just off to set his segment of Leicester Market on fire now. Cûnt.

No one was interested though or followed you on twitter.

He's Leicester through and through and has been since he was a kid. Obviously he's in the public eye so that's who the media will go to for such an occasion. As for his numerous tweets and interview - LET HIM! Why does it bother you so much? Are you jealous that no-one came and asked you for an interview? Reality is that you're making a huge deal out of this and getting uptight about Lineker just cos you don't seem to share the same views as him.

It's amazing we are even discussing an individual and servant of the club's rights and freedom to post his opinions in an appropriate and non-offensive manner. What we surely should be discussing are the Instagram cretins abusing Vichai. Nobody is saying that he shouldn't be allowed to express his views... only that the views he's expressing are pitifully embarrassing.
sm1 Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 I have to question how much he sees of us as him and his mates on BT Sport looked surprised how shit we were against Seville. Anybody who's watched us recently and looked at that team sheet knew we were going to get a tonking. Personally i think he just reiterates whatever is the popular feeling at the time, like most of the 'luvvies' that work in TV.
