Gray ..... £60k a week

I'll be amazed if anyone pays even close to 60k a week for a winger that, while he does look the dogs , doesn't actually provide enough goals or assists.

this 100 times, he looks very dangerous but he has no end-product to show for. and that's why i'm hesitant to give him the keys to the team when mahrez leaves, he has the luxury of not being defended by more than 1 player but he still doesnt get goals nor assists.

as much as i like gray, he doesn't deserve that big of a wage, if he wants to be shown the money then he needs to show some end-product, how can you be so dominant and yet you can buy some end-product

No release clause.

Young and upcoming players demand decent salaries.

Pay it.

and that's what's wrong with the english football, since when a player is paid for his potential? he needs to give at least a 12 goals & assists season in the league to even consider that wage

This. Potential is all well and good but when he gets his 60k, what's to stop his agent asking for 100k after a run in the team and a few good games and the odd goal/assist? Football in general throw money at players to keep them, which is fair enough, but do it in moderation.

What I would do is say, ok, here's an improvement on your wages, keep him sweet, and dangle the carrot of 60k when he is a regular in the side and bringing more goals and assists to his play. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player and he can/will be a seriously dangerous attacking player for us. Possibly exceeding Mahrez, depending on how he develops. Same for Ndidi, he's a monster and showing more and more that he could well be a huge diamond, who will become indispensable.

To be fair Zaha got a move to United doing exactly that!

I'd actually be surprised if someone DOESN'T cough up the 60k per week.

It's a sign of the times. What's Musa earning, for instance? Gray is a much better player even at 20. It's ridiculous but I think he'll get what he wants. Football has gone to Hell in a handcart.

the thing is, players like gray are a recurring pattern, fast, strong, can shot and dribble but with very little end-product (just like zaha and redmond) so i will not go as far as to say that gray can be a poty and lead his team to a PL title, n'didi is a whole nother gravy, i will be ready to give him 60-80k easly, man looks like the real deal

thing is, you can't just say he is better if he doesnt get you goals and assists , i will rather take a mahrez against watford performance last season away than a gray vs stoke performance at home, you can huff and puff all you want, but at the end of the day, goals do most of the talking and the only sound gray's  goals are making are crickets's.

edit: i think he is better btw

Can't believe some people are saying "pay the guy". Seriously this is why the game has been ruined over the years. People looking at this and thinking its normal, you have to work 2 years to get what he will be getting in a week!

I'd be happy to lose Musa and give Gray his wages.

I'm sorry, but any club that can pay nearly 30 mill AND pay 95k per week for Moussa Sissoko is hardly whiter than white!

Spurs are a shrewd club these days  (after years of spending big on rubbish) but they were caught with their pants down over Sissoko. Newcastle saw em coming.

It's no to debate the many wrongs of the Premier League, if we don't pay it someone else will and then we lose someone who looks capable of being a mainstay in the England set up for years to come.

lol are we really comparing a Premier League footballer to the average joes wage?

People have to get used to the increase in tv money cascading down to increased player wages. It's happened. It's going to continue happening. Wages will continue to go up.

get used to it!

not only that, but the more prestigious a club is the higher the wages they are expected to pay- we won the league last year and despite our shite start, it's fair to say many of those connected with the club see us being of a top 6 standard club.

AND it's unlikely we will be challenging for European honors next year so we need to offer an further incentive for people to sign/ re-new contracts with us..

60ka week for one of England's brightest talents is NOT. Unreasonable. If he consistently plays like he did yesterday i see no reason why he won't get a call to at least train with he England squad in the next 12 months...

Posted

At 20 we need to be encouraging Gray to take on players and make opportunities for himself. I don't want to see another promising English player chained up in a system that stifles anything good about them.

The goals and assists will come, just give him the chance before shooting him down. A player with his pace and dribbling ability is nothing to be sniffed at (not to mention his rocket of a right foot).

Talksport is just indykalia and Sean from Enderby in radio form.

Quoting from FootballRumours got banned on here, I can't wait for the day talksport goes the same way.
