Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Here's an idea. Don't listen to TalkSport, or if you must ( ) don't believe a word they say.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 No release clause. Young and upcoming players demand decent salaries. Pay it.
Guest the fox Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 as much as i like gray, he doesn't deserve that big of a wage, if he wants to be shown the money then he needs to show some end-product, how can you be so dominant and yet you can buy some end-product

Potential is all well and good but when he gets his 60k, what's to stop his agent asking for 100k after a run in the team and a few good games and the odd goal/assist? Football in general throw money at players to keep them, which is fair enough, but do it in moderation. What I would do is say, ok, here's an improvement on your wages, keep him sweet, and dangle the carrot of 60k when he is a regular in the side and bringing more goals and assists to his play. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player and he can/will be a seriously dangerous attacking player for us. Possibly exceeding Mahrez, depending on how he develops. Same for Ndidi, he's a monster and showing more and more that he could well be a huge diamond, who will become indispensable.

To be fair Zaha got a move to United doing exactly that!
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 I'd actually be surprised if someone DOESN'T cough up the 60k per week. It's a sign of the times. What's Musa earning, for instance? Gray is a much better player even at 20. It's ridiculous but I think he'll get what he wants. Football has gone to Hell in a handcart.

Guest LCFC_World Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Can't believe some people are saying "pay the guy". Seriously this is why the game has been ruined over the years. People looking at this and thinking its normal, you have to work 2 years to get what he will be getting in a week!

Spurs are a shrewd club these days (after years of spending big on rubbish) but they were caught with their pants down over Sissoko. Newcastle saw em coming.

Matt Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Potential to be as good or better than Mahrez imo. So excited for his future, just hope it's at Leicester!
MPH Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 People have to get used to the increase in tv money cascading down to increased player wages. It's happened. It's going to continue happening. Wages will continue to go up. get used to it! not only that, but the more prestigious a club is the higher the wages they are expected to pay- we won the league last year and despite our shite start, it's fair to say many of those connected with the club see us being of a top 6 standard club. AND it's unlikely we will be challenging for European honors next year so we need to offer an further incentive for people to sign/ re-new contracts with us.. 60ka week for one of England's brightest talents is NOT. Unreasonable. If he consistently plays like he did yesterday i see no reason why he won't get a call to at least train with he England squad in the next 12 months...
Slim Dog Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 At 20 we need to be encouraging Gray to take on players and make opportunities for himself. I don't want to see another promising English player chained up in a system that stifles anything good about them. The goals and assists will come, just give him the chance before shooting him down. A player with his pace and dribbling ability is nothing to be sniffed at (not to mention his rocket of a right foot).
