FoxesFan94 Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 So Lawro (surprisingly?) put us as the team of the era between 2012-2017... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/premier_league_25_2012_2017

Best PL Player: For me, it's Bergkamp, some of the passes and touches he produced were sublime, and that the strikers (including Henry) would then benefit from. That last goal in the 3-3 was special. And I would have to say that he always came across as a true professional of the game. *cough* but soooooo glad they didn't win
Guest seanfox778 Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 I seem to remember between 98-06 that 4-3 was quite a common scoreline and it was happening every other week. I want to see more of that this season, everyone's too cautious these days.

Even Elliott looked impressed. It might be that I was younger but that age did seem to have more magic. Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona. I think Bergkamp and Vieira best in PL history. X

Hollism Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 No mention of Scholes? Easily my favourite non-LCFC player.
Spudulike Posted 17 August 2017 Author Posted 17 August 2017 We asked former Liverpool defender and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson to pick his team of the era... "I just have to go with Leicester here - their success is still staggering whenever I think about it, but even more so now, after looking back at the past 25 years and some of the other teams I have been talking about. "The other four teams I have named as being the best from each of the previous Premier League eras all stand out, but none of them will be remembered in years to come the same way as the Foxes. "For a club like Leicester to win the title is the greatest achievement of the past 25 years, and more besides. It will be an awfully long time before we see it repeated." Lump in throat again.

I think this is an attempt to atone for his mid-season analysis, that went like this: 'Leicester can't win the title' 'But why not, Lawro?' 'Because they can't, they won't.' Give that man a degree in discursive argument....
Thracian Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 Ronaldo without a doubt. So close with the rest but Bergkamp was close to genius.

Wymsey Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 Best moment was obviously us winning it. But also the 'Gerrard slip', that cost Liverpool the title against Chelsea when they were so close.. Still quite funny, now, as it couldn't have happened to more for a player that has been ever-present for his hometown club and a city he's loves with high regard than him.. Reckon Kane will be in the top five in terms of overall PL goalscorers, but won't surpass Shearer's league record imo.
filbertway Posted 18 August 2017 Posted 18 August 2017 Yeah Ronnie hands down is the best to grace the Prem.
