Spudulike Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 You'd think that we might feature a bit more in the BBC's Premier League iconic moments montage. Something missing ?? Didn't V9 create Premier League history in 2015/16 ?? Or doesn't it count as he plays at the wrong club.
Rusko187 Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 Who in everyones mind was/is the greatest Premiership player? So many to choose from but for me right this moment it's Henry.
ajthefox Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 It's a 2 minute clip showing highlights from 25 years. What do you expect?

I expect a recognition of one of the biggest moments in Premier League history. Would it have been ignored if it was a player from a North London or North West club ??

On the one hand yeh, it is only not being shown because it's Leicester as we're old news to them now. On the other hand, it's stupid to consider the Premier League a seperate entity to the old division one anyway. Having a montage about it is a big enough joke without going on about a record that isn't actually a record. There is no such thing as 'Premier League history'. It's a made up media concept in order to sell a brand.

I saw this post and haven't read to the bottom and so others may have already said it but how can the one main man of the Premier League years be anyone than Mr Ryan Giggs.

Like it or not it's a different entity to the old Division One. Plenty of people at the time added the caveat to Vardys streak that it wasn't the all-time top flight record.
Spudulike Posted 8 August 2017 Author Posted 8 August 2017 Of course it was a re-branding exercise but it did change our tier one league in many ways. People talk about the Modern era and I think that 25 years is enough to qualify it as an era and look at stats accordingly. Same goes for the Champions League that was established in the same year. It might have the same trophy but it's most certainly not the competition that our little neighbours keep reminding us about that they once won (x2). Anyway here's some more Premier League stats... All time Premier League table
Stadt Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 As much as I hate Sky and the significance they place upon the premier league the rebranding coincided with the back pass rule change which helped create a fairly different league system, when you add the subsequent investment and influx of foreign players there is a case for PL records.

I'm just not a fan of Giggs. Ronaldo, I think whilst he had some incredible years in the Prem I thought Henry served his entire years of him in his prime in the Prem and was incredible to watch.
Stadt Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 Suarez' 13/14 was the single best season a player's had in the PL especially when he was banned for the first handful of games
