Foxaholic ME Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 Are we doing proper giant killers a dis service when a championship team or lower beat a Premier reserve team. Outside the top 5 or 6 I would rank a championship or div 1 side favourite. As many fans last years defeat at Millwall was expected a full strength Spurs side won 6-0
AjcW Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 Out of interest, are you by any chance wearing a hard hat?
stripeyfox Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 I think he is saying that a giant killing is not a giant killing if the higher ranked team plays its reserves
AjcW Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 I wonder what a dis service would be like? Is it like a phone number you ring up to get roasted?
foxy boxing Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 the early rounds of the League Cup where the Division one and two clubs have the best chance of beating a Premier League team or Championship team as those clubs will invariably play weakened sides as they view the early rounds more of a hindrance to an already congested fixture list. it's only in the quarter finals and beyond that the big clubs will take the competition seriously! it's always good though to see a smaller club beat a bigger one unless of course it's your own!
Fox92 Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 wtf We were a PL side last season and we lost to Millwall who weren't, at that time, even top 6 in League One. Champions of England should be going to League One sides and easing through. Tonight will be tough, no doubt about it, but even with changes we should win. I'll be very disappointed if I go there and see us lose.

Not gonna lie I was expecting nothing but a loss for that Millwall game last season even if we had played a "full strength" side, we looked bereft of any sort of confidence at that point.

It's only a giant killing if they put out a full strength side. If we play Musa, Benny, Chilly, Elder, Johnson, Hamer, Ndukwu etc, I'd fully expect Sheff Utd to win this especially with home advantage.
Voll Blau Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 A giant killing is a giant killing regardless of the starting XI. It's not the lower league club's fault if their opposition don't put out a full strength side, and it's no excuse anyway.
