Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Anyone else affected by this? I was due to fly with them on the 11th with the family and have had to now buy flights with Ryan air (dodgy choice I know) who immediately put their prices up, luckily I booked the Monarch flights on my credit card so hopefully will get that back. i would be interested to know how other people have been affected by this.
Fox92 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Sad. Flew with Monarch many times, always a good service. One for the aircraft thread, but their oldest aircraft can be seen at Duxford.
Fox92 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 "This page will no longer be monitored" ..... they really have just bailed out

It's another disgrace to go with the Ryanair shambles. Aviation is in a mess at the moment.
Fox92 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 You'd think they'd keep people back to assist others but if the company seize to exist then fair play everybody goes. All their aircrafts are grounded, think it's all Airbus fleet. Aviation isn't a mess though.
Strokes Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 It's a shame, I always enjoyed flying with monarch. They did always seem to look after passengers.
Jattdogg Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Someone must have the company twitter password (unless the account is now closed). Log in and post some borat videos or randomness?

In this country it's a mess. 20,000 flights cancelled by Ryan Air, nearly a million people either stranded or with cancelled flights under Monarch. Huge skill shortages in the industry as well that are going to catch up with it.

Exactly the same - I'm flying out on the 11th and have had to book an alternative flight with RyanAir. Luckily the RyanAir flights are cheap, because I don't think we're eligible for a refund. It was one outgoing flight, paid for by debit card. WTF is going on with airlines at the minute?
joachim1965 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 We are in Cyprus at the moment and almost flew Monarch as we have several times previous, but luckily this time we flew Jet2.

They mentioned on the BBC news at lunchtime that people who paid by debit card may be able to do a charge back? It might be worth speaking to your bank if you haven't already

I read somewhere earlier if you've paid with a debit card which is in an overdraft you can get your money back. Hope this helps.

I believe there is a way of getting it back on a debit card but it takes longer. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=15&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjn2qLyoNLWAhUEEVAKHacHAg8QFgh1MA4&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.money.co.uk%2Fguides%2Fchargeback-claims-how-to-get-your-money-back.htm&usg=AOvVaw1J2YYNU8WS5l5kLcENBhCN

foxoffderby Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 I've enjoyed monarch far better than most economy airlines
ousefox Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Never noticed any difference between Monarch and any other crap airline I've used. Won't be missed.
lee7 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 I fly next Monday & these past couple of weeks twice my sisters told me about the airlines cancelling flights & now this one going into administration. Each time I've sh*t myself expecting her to say easy jet
SemperEadem Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Meant to be off to Porto next Tuesday using them. Had a right shocker with Ryanair cancelling our flight back after a Bochum trip and now this.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 3 October 2017 Author Posted 3 October 2017 My original monarch flights cost me £350 my new flights with Ryanair cost me a staggering £950
