Puel is a good fit.

Have just had a thought, hope I like him as much as the last manager Southampton let go who ended up here...

I remember it being analysed last season that his favoured 4-4-2 diamond becomes more of a 3-4-1-2 when the team are in possession with the full-backs pushing on and in Southampton's case Romeu would sit deep between the two centre backs. It will be interesting to see how he sets us up in the next few weeks and which of our current he prefers and where he'll want to strengthen.

Iborra sitting back in between 2 CBS, think I'm in love.

Edit: sounded better in my head but you get my point

I'm keen on Puel and here's why

It's so damn easy to hire the flavour of the month because they're currently doing well and being publicly lauded for it (ie Dyche).  The fact they're riding on a crest of success may blind football recruiters to these candidates weaknesses, or if they're a poor fit for the club. The recruiters also know the fans will be straight on board with hiring the flavour of the month.

It's much harder to appoint a manager who 'failed' in his last job, especially in the case of Puel where the team he 'failed' with is in our same league. Regardless of his CV, there is a bias against him straight away from the fans and probably the recruiter himself, the candidate has to essientially justify why they failed and win over the prejudices. This shows to me that our recruiters (rudkin and co I guess) were so convinced by what he had to offer that they overrode their initial concerns, despite knowing there'll probably be a bit of a backlash from the fans.

Much preferring this appointment to a Dyche, Wilder etc for that very reason.

I dont believe Dyche was flavour of the month, it was a thought that grew from within this forum then the media. Then we slowly warmed to it.When  for example I 1st put it out in a the

Topic "what price now for Dyche", there were mixed feelings, then others warmed to it.

I would have liked him to be here at that point, but actually I reckon he has unfinished business

with Burnley, and fancies he could stamp his name and give Burnley a PL era.

I enjoyed reading another view on Dyche or any other "flavours" imo  excellent points on spotting the right man, with right potential..I buy into it.

Can't we just give the guy a chance

All this negativity is doing my head in

He hasn't had the team kick a ball yet.

Let's see where we are in Jan before calling for his head at least

Just think we could have ended with Pardew and Co

Iwas underwhelmed at first but his past record is starting to give me encouragement about the future ie possible change in formations/better use of players. the one negative for me so far was bringing in his own assistant, not sure how that will work with Appleton. IMO he should have given this bloke another title other than assistant manager eg first team coach/translater. Keeping Appleton as part of the setup is vital. Interestingly the skysports pundits have just been discussing Puel.  Phil Thompson also admitted being underwhelmed upon hearing of the appointment but he then referred to both cup semifinals vLiverpool when he said Southampton played them off the park both legs and could easily have scored 4 each game

I was not at the game but the commentary I listened to suggested that is what Iborra did at Swansea, when Maguire made a forward foray he dropped in to cover. The guy is tactically astute and aware.

It's alright. We can't do anything else than beat Everton at home tomorrow, therefore FT will love Puel by tomorrow evening.

"Willing to give him a chance".....

Now go to the bosses and tell them, all is ok, CP  can stay.

because you such a kind hearted soul.

To all the negative posters....I just hope that your peers, and associates, blindly judge your Lifes efforts from past and into the future , with the same arrogance , backstreet egoism, as

you all seem to be wanting to spread around.

Its been a pathetic and black 2 days, on this forum, on every single thread and Post

Relevant to C.Puel being given the trust of the job to rejuvinate, rebuild the team and club.

It seems that some "Heavies" on this forum deem their negative posturering  are wise

Funny, clever antics, and cant wait to build up a bandwagon that we should all jump on,

Myself...Every new beginner, needs encouragement , patience....and while we are fans...

"Support"

We are lousy hosts, and should be ashamed how

we have welcomed a new guest into our home...

I think perhaps you've misinterpreted my view, given a wishlist of managers I wouldn't have put him on there but as he's here I'm open to see how he does instead of how others would instantly want his dismissal at the first sign of trouble.
