I can’t blame people on here. Firstly, there are some numpties, secondly any of us only have so much info. Watching YouTube to build an assessment of a player is frankly ludicrous.

But being paid as a professional scout is something completely different. Your job is to identify signings and of course they’ll sometimes get them wrong.

But this one looks to be spectacularly so.

His first touch and weight of pass are atrocious and that's nothing to do with confidence, it's just the player he is. Anyone who has watched him play live two or three times then this just becomes apparent very quickly. As you say you can't blame supporters for making an assessment on a youtube video because for unknown foreign players that's all we have to go on. He looked a good player on this:

Musa's touches against Barcelona and he tortures them with his pace and bags a couple of goals. He needs to move for his own sake.

To be fair this is when Barca had brought on a load of children in defence....

Half the posters on here were raving about him from a couple of YouTube videos when we signed him! and were also moaning that we weren’t willing to raise our offer to £22m to get it done quicker!

Shows what player knowledge some people on here actually have.

It looked to me like bad business straight away, but hey, what do I know.

People are all too quick to waste silly money on some of these overseas players. Lots of them are unsuitable for the intensity of the Premier League.

I'm not one to say "I told you so" but I did. Back in January 2016 when we were initially linked with him I posted that he was rubbish and wasn't worth signing but people just saw his pace and thought he could replicate what Vardy does.

Loads of Nigerians don't rate him either.

Shocking player, we should try and get a bit money on him while we can.

I think we've just got to accept we've thrown away £16m and his wages.

Best hope is he goes out on loan, has a blinder and someone thinks they can get the bet out of him.

Let’s not pretend it was some obscure signing.

He was highly rated, I seem to remember a couple of good performances against Man United in the Champions league as well.

People far too quick to say how bad a player is, when it reality they can just be weaker mentally and the confidence can be drained.

The people that spout how bad a player he is are probably the same ones that said how shit Vardy was when he nearly turned his back on football.

I love how people like to digg out Walsh as well, the bloke that put the nucleus of the team together that’s still entertaining them today.

Not forgetting that he added about 200m to the clubs value.

Confidence going or not he’s been completely shite here and anyone beginning to claim otherwise is quite bizarre.

Its interesting how his confidence actually could have gone as Ranieri started him away V Sevilla.

I remember home to Arsenal start of last season he played pretty well left hand side and should've won a penalty too.

He played for 3 mins ???

Ha maybe my memory isn't that good then! The 0-0 game I was sure he played the last 20 or so and should've won a penalty cutting in from the left. Think Mendy did his ankle that game too

It was a stonewall pen.

Funny as Arsenal only get penalty decisions going against them and never for them according to Wenger.

if we only had a video ref to review it!

I disagree, sure his touch is never going to be world class. But I saw enough against Arsenal, Spurs, Palace, Barca and Hull that he was actually capable of something. Confidence can effect you in many ways, I put Amartey in the same category as someone full of self doubt. When on a downer their decision making is awful, lose concentration easily, make stupid mistakes etc. It turns an average touch into an awful one pretty quickly. Chuck into that other things, whether he's just not interested, doesn't want to be here, having trouble with his 7 wives etc.

We could all see of confidence almost totally changed Iheanacho's performance the other day. Suddenly a player who looked half bothered, is leaping off the flooring and charging up the pitch. His poor control vanishes and suddenly the ball is sticking to him more.

I still don't think Musa is technically that much worse than someone like Schlupp, but his end product was better I'm sure of that.

He did come on as sub late, but for that 7 or 8 minutes he was all over Bellerin and he couldn't cope with his pace... and he's about as quick as they come.

That last paragraph lollollol if Schlupp is the yardstick for technical ability then we all need eliminating.

And this is what drives far too many posts on FT ..... Slate someone in the hope that one day you get it right and can say "I don't want to say I told you so, but I did"

I've honestly barely slated Musa. I accepted that he isn't very good and just supported him whenever he played. Probably criticised him once or twice on here but by and large I've kept it balanced in the hope Musa proves me wrong.

Good man. Glad to hear it!! :schmike:

Wasn't a pop at you, I'm just driven nuts on here - in every player thread there's someone slating them, in the hope they call one right and have their day in the sunshine of Toldyousoland!

Back on to Musa, I personally think this is just one of those moves where it doesn't work out.

I think he'll go on to have a really good career somewhere else and we'll be wondering why he didn't do it for us.

The goal against Barca had me nudging my mate and saying "we've got a player here" I was so excited by him - pace, direct running, finishing ..... Probably the three attributes most affected by confidence, maybe one day he'll get that confidence back and it'll fall into place.
