Real Ale Classroom set looking to get rid of the city centre bar

No surprise, they’ve lost a lot of their good staff and not been replaced. It’s not my favourite place ever but will be a shame to lose another stop.

Add to this. It’s an important venue for live stuff too! Hopefully someone can take it on and use the space.

Yeah man, I was quite impressed with it when it opened even if the furniture was rock hard. Recent visits not so much, lack of real ale in a gaff called that isn't great really

Never been too fond of it personally but certainly a shame to see another go in Leicester.

Was having a beer yesterday in the sunshine outside the forge in Glenfield.

Along come two ladies, well into their seventies on cycles donning all the safety gear, helmets, hi viz jackets etc.

After securing their cycles the two 'girls' went to the bar & came out with a couple of small ciders & whilst chatting a lady member of staff came out & asked them to remove their hi viz jackets as the pub does not allow 'workwear'!!

Dont you just love a jobsworth!

That is absolutely ridiculous. Pubs should be doing everything to encourage punters ffs

Look. It’s a beautiful pubs collective pub, so the two women should have had more respect.

I think the Tobie Norris is your main go to and then also take a look at Kings Head (more craft beer), Jolly Brewer and The Green Man.

So you can't wear a football shirt then.

Or an Aran jumper!

Or a flat cap?

Lumberjack shirt?

Little tentative plan for London on Thursday

The Atlas West Brompton (near hotel)

Eight Bells and Bricklayers Putney Bridge

Boat down to St George Wharf

Walk to Brixton O2 Via

Canton Arms

The Priory Arms

The Grosvenor Arms

Looks like some right tasty brews on offer in those.

In capidal siddy today myself, eyeing up the Blue Stoops in Notting Hill which I've wanted to get in for a good while alongside a couple of others that way. Might revisit the Eight Bells n all given it's down the road if I've got time, had a right hankering for her the past week

This thread has turned into the "there aren't any nice pubs in Leicester, got any suggestions elsewhere?" thread.

I noticed this, too! We need a separate "nice pubs outside Leicester" thread.

Leicester has many faults but it does have nice pubs - surely no-one thinks the Blue Boar or the King's Head are shit...

I don't rate it either.

Part of my reason is because to me it feels more like a pub trying to be an old pub rather than having that feeling of somewhere with character.

Like when you get a fake or temporary Oktoberfest set up or something. It's almost too clean and varnished, it lacks authentic charm.
