whats the capacity of the etihad though, for instance, not far off 80,000?

Its nowhere near as big as that. No club ground holds 80,000 in england.

These decisions are logistical issues too probably, policing, getting people into the ground when all are away fans, corporate facilities and sponsors facilities etc

I very much enjoyed the old villa park old trafford semis days though

thought it was 65k or so. It's a shame though as Wembley should be reserved just for the final imo, half the magic is in getting there, if you've already been there not long before to the semis it kinda takes that magic away.

If spurs get to the final they would have played at Wembley a minimum of 5 times in the competition.

If they beat Rochdale and draw their next tie they would have played every round at Wembley.

Magic of the cup.

Surely then that should depend on the teams involved. Let's say Man City get Swansea in the semis this year (quite possible), surely somewhere like Anfield would be better for both clubs and sets of fans than Wembley? Not as if Anfield will have poor facilities either.

Semis are at Wembley simply because the ground cost so much and they need it in use more to make the money out of it.

Also from a safety point of view wembley is designed to have a 50/50 split. No other ground is. Plus ticket allocation is far higher than at a league ground. At villa park we weold be looking at 12k tickets.
