He’s the one player I found myself really frustrated with today which is saying something as most were poor . Everyone knows what he can and cannot do and he’s been one of our more consistent players but never outstanding. But time and time again today  I found myself screaming pass the  fuching ball or shouting forward as he constantly ran a little forward with the ball then turned and passed back as he just didn’t  know what to do . I lost track of the amount of attacks that seemed to break down as soon as the ball  reached him

when the ball goes to him the attacking play just stalls and all too often he panics and goes back to Kasper, Amartey might not be fit enough but why not play Johnson or Knight there

He was always looking a little like he'd struggle with Puel's style but then he absolutely killed him by dropping him completely.

Gone from a solid performer who looked a little uncomfortable going forward to one completely lacking in confidence and still struggling when going forward to make things worse.

Been brilliant for us for a couple of years but he's finished here this summer.

This. He is a useless, boring footballer. Good at defending but jesus wept it's cringeworthy when he gets on the ball.

A footballer who is scared of the ball to the extent where he will actually hide from it rather than show for it. First one out the door in the summer, probably one of those who moans to the press as well.

I'd suggest he can't even do that anymore. Very sad.

I dunno. I don't think hes a worse defender than Amartey, but Amartey is a far superior footballer (and he's bang average).

Simpson's lack of footballing ability didn't used to be an issue when he wasn't forced to play with the ball but now he is, it's our number one problem.

I'd put Albrighton in that category too. He slows every attack down.

They're the most predictable pair in the league.

Simpson - either backwards pass to Morgan/Schmeichel or lump into channel.

Albrighton - cut in side on to right foot, take too many touches, lose the ball

yet all too many fans cry if either don't get picked.

If Amartey is fit enough play him for the rest of the season, if not play Darnell Johnson

Because they are not good enough, it's that simple.

hes got lacks due to the fact hes had no competition for his spot really, personally i thought Amartey did well when he played there this season,

thought his performances have gone down hill this season and you can tell he clearly doesnt suit the style of play with we are intending to play, he'll be off in the summer or he'll hopefully be 2nd choice or something as hopefully we'll get a new RB in

He's quite inconsistent to be an established right-back.

CB and right-back should be priorities in the transfer window.

Neither is Danny Simpson at what Puel wants from a full back

So that automatically makes two youth team players better? Puel has shown this season if he believes the young players are good enough (Chilwell, Choudhury) they'll be involved. Knight has played ten minutes in a 2nd round league cup game where we were 3-1 up (not even under Puel) and Johnson has been nowhere near the squad.

I know you're a big Simpson fan but surely you must be tired of watching him play now.

It's got to the stage now where I'd genuinely rather someone younger, and worse, try and play some decent football than watch Simpson.

I'd play Darnell Johnson down the right for the next few games and see if he's ready to step up. Simpson isn't worth playing anymore.

I used to laugh at comments like this but seriously whats the worst that can happen?

We finish 10th or whatever. Boo hoo.

I don't want to go in on Simpson because we wouldn't have won the title without his efforts, but enough is enough. As I've said before, his lack of footballing ability used to be a bit of a running joke and excusable because the way the team played was to his strengths (defend, clear ball, hope for the best). Now, from 1-11 we need players who are confident on the ball. We have two who aren't (Simpson & Morgan) and about 3 or 4 who don't use the ball well enough but are confident on the ball (Chilwell, Ndidi, Albrighton etc).

I'm more than happy to persevere and give my full backing to the Chilwells & Ndidis of our squad, those who are confident enough to at least try and play it on the floor and play some creative football, but I'm completely done with paying money to see 50% of our ball possession being:

Schmeichel > Morgan > Simpson > Morgan > Schmeichel > Throw in.

Youth team players, like Darnell Johnson, may not be as competent, but if they play with the same confidence as Choudhury I much, MUCH rather see them in the shirt.

I am a big Simpson fan, and I'm not by any means saying that he shouldn't be replaced, but to offer an alternative of (no disrespect to these either) Darnell Johnson and Josh Knight who haven't even mustered a single half of professional football between them is absolutely laughable. I would kind of get it if we had nothing whatsoever to play for, but we do.
