What about last season? We were pretty much safe this time last year - only won 2 of last 8 games and finished 10 clear of relegation zone.

It was what followed Middlesboro that was truly awful.  At least we got a point there.  We had the worst record in all four divisions for the first 7 games of 2017 - one point.

 

We were in freefall and in the bottom three.  It looked very bleak indeed and yet when Ranieri got the inevitable boot, the football world went beserk.  

 

Still rankles with me.  I don't remember Chelsea getting the same abuse for sacking Champions League winner Di Matteo or title winner Mourinho after much fewer games.

After Swansea last season I honestly thought we were gone. Was it 7 league games without a goal. This season has been the calmest in the last 7 years for sure
