Shaqiri would be a decent replacement. Even more inconsistent than Mahrez but similar type of player and better at set pieces. Not the most energetic mind.

Zaha is probably the other best winger outside the top 6 but we couldn’t get him.

No thanks.  Over weight and overrated.

We're fvcked even more if he leaves. Even with him having a somewhat poor season, he still leads our assists chart. He's got about 5 or 6 more assists than Albrighton even though Albrighton crosses about 50 times a game.

He's been "left" for 2 years. 6 or 7 performances in 2 years is no big deal. He leads the assists charts because we focus our game on him. He takes every free kick and most of the corners. He is only on the pitch to make assists and goals as his defensive non-effort attests. There are loads of players who can give us the few assists he managed this year, next year, if they are featured.

Indeed. My main reason for going tonight to be honest.

He really shouldn't be playing. He's been taking the piss for months and we have been an abomination carrying a "star" player who has done sweet FA and made us play with only 10 men in every game. We have more chance of winning without his lazy ass on the pitch.

Agree, although if he thinks he will ever be a starter at Man City, then he is mistaken, so he needs to choose his next club wisely.

Too right. If he ends up at Man City he will become Danny Drinkwater. He needs a team that will feature him, has goal scorers and doesn't need him to defend at all.

Vardy would be harder to replace than Mahrez in my opinion. It's not particularly difficult or over expensive to sign a wide midfielder that assists and scores 5-10 goals every season. We could pick up Shaqiri for about 15 million, job done.

I have to agree. Vardy is another level. Look at the top 6 and you can see a player in every team in his position that he couldn't displace. We need to get a goos no.10 rather than look for a "mahrez - like" winger.

A one way love affair is the saddest of all .mahrez was a great player for us in the title winning season but since then has really treated us with contempt. But if people want to see something different that' up to them.

Recent reports in Switzerland claim that there is a £12 million release clause in the Stoke man's contract.

I'm with you though and don't see this as the top signing some others do.

His 8 goals, 6 assists  is bad considering Mahrez has 10 Goals, 8 assists,

for 12 million is a no brainer.

We'd be relegated if it wasn't for him and Vardy this season

Didn't say what would or would not have happened without him just he has treated us with contempt and I stand by that opinion.

Think I'd be inclined to sign an out and out winger for the right side and find some creativity in a central area, a number 10 sort of player.

He shouldn’t be playing because he understandably isn’t giving 100%

would you risk your dream move putting in tackles playing what are now meaningless fixtures? Any full back up against him only has to make one strong challenge and that’s him mentally out of the game.

Look what has happened to some players these past few weeks - world cups and big moves ruined ...... Puel shouldn’t be selecting him

As I said before, it's too toxic at the club, so he (and a few others) need to go.

My only reservation is the fact that other than him, the best player we have is Vards. which really concerns me because his end product doesn't always translate to points. in our last 8 games, Vardy scored 4 goals in 4 games and in those 4 games, we managed 1 win 3 defeats.

Overall this season, we have managed 18 points from a possible 48 when he's on the scoring sheet. 18 points from 16 games isn't that good.

We need a quality winger next season.

I don't really understand what you're getting at here.

It sounds like you're putting blame on Vardy for our poor points return. Is that what you mean?

If it is, don't you think blame should be directed at the midfield for not providing enough chances, the defence for failing to defend well enough, or the manager for being way too cautious and not playing to the players' strengths?

If it's not what you mean, then I think you've worded your argument very strangely.

Your post before was simply a poorly hidden attack on Vardy.

Mahrez has had 5 or 6 decent games this season and anyone who has actually watched would know that.

Proof of the pudding will be seen in the rest of Mahrez career after he leaves us think you'll find that we've pandered to his every need and therefore his stats have been padded - he won't get those stats sat on the bench at Man City.

Even with Mahrez being poor he's still the most creative player we have. Which is why he has the most assists. Albrighton takes his fair share of corners but they're poor. Mahrez takes free kicks because he's the best option we've got.

Like I said, Albrighton crosses much more than Mahrez but Mahrez has more assists because his are better.

We lack creativity and goals as it is, once Mahrez has left we'll have even less threat. Vardy has 17 goals - brilliant - but our other goal threat after that is Mahrez.

Albrighton and Gray, combined, don't score or assist more than Mahrez alone.

You're off your head pal, Mahrez has been arguably better at times this season than in 2015/26 in terms of all round performance. From October to January he was the reason we went from relegation material to top 8.

No. What i mean is, his goals don't translate to enough points to allow the team to count on his end-product to have a real push for the top. They (Riyad and Vads) both contributed to 18 goals but Riyad's point return is obviously better. as in 10 points more for 18 goals+assists. 10 points can be the difference between relegation and the 10th place in the league (as it stands). The same difference between the 18th place Swansea and the 10th place Newcastle

But hey, don't mind my valid point. I'm just a Mahrez fanboy.

Because people are saying if it wasn't for Mahrez we'd be in a relegation battle. Wrong. If it wasn't for Mahrez deciding when he wants to put a shift in we'd probably be in the top 6 now. To give a man who clearly doesn't want to be here as much credit as he receives is wrong considering he picks and chooses when to play well. He's an immature, unprofessional, ungrateful, overrated footballer that is lucky to have Leicester, not the other way around.

Great player but his dark energy is dragging the whole club down. The downturn in form started when Mahrez threw his fit back in January. It only takes one poisonous personality to wreck the atmosphere of any group. Sell him to MLS. They will pay big money for him. Maybe he will like Kansas City. Chinese clubs can also pay big transfer fees now.

And they are probably right. The same goes for Vards, Ndidi and harry. They managed to keep the team up.

But you give credit when credit is due. His 18 goals+assists in the league helped the team stay up.

It's telling that Mahrez is being measured by the yardstick of a Villa reject. Of course he has more assists than Albrighton, he has the ball more and if he isn't more creative than Albrighton God help us.

Mahrez can be replaced by a large number of equally creative players from around the world, he should net us millions (Albrigthon won't but as you say he's nearly as good with assists).

Mahrez is the second highest goalscorer because he's the most used player we have. If Nacho had the same minutes and touches I feel sure he'd score more. Next year someone else will score the goals Mahrez has this year.

 Mahrez has no pens BTW

Mahrez was a clown, I'm not gonna debate that.

Mahrez has no pens because he was so bad when he used to take them. His percentage recently was one of the worst in the history of football. His penalties COST us points and cup progression.

I'll agree with your statement about Mahrez being a clown. ;)

The rest of your post was just you knocking Vardy and ignoring other players to try and make Mahrez sound not as bad as he is. You seem to think every point is won for us by Mahrez alone and every point lost is due to the rest of the team.

If we had a team of Kasper and 10 Mahrez we would be hammered every week. I'd take a team of Kasper and 10 Vardy or Kasper and 10 Maguire and many other options over a team full of Mahrez.

You should perhaps realise that Mahrez plays (well sometimes) in a team. That team wins or losses the game.

If you see it like that, then it probably is. analytics is having a hidden agenda against Vardy lol

But you just said that Mahrez's end-product is non-existent?

You're talking garbage. Whether a goal or Assist ends in a certain amount of points is pure luck.

it isn't a small number, looking at 2 players who contributed to 18 goals in 16 games. It's as close as it gets.
