Man United statement: "Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage. The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter."

Yeah, I posted this in the PL thread but deserves a thread of its own.

Very sad. Hope he recovers.

I know Darren did not manage today.

Shocking , we will never see a man like this in football again , he created a conglomerate from the ashes of an air distaster

Anything to do with the brain is very scary. I don't know how many people survive a brain haemorrhage?

Completely depends on how quickly you get medical attention.

From the statement it looks as if Sir Alex was treated very quickly and competently.

Whilst I sympathize completely with Sir Alex and wish him a speedy recovery, you do realise that the "air disaster" was thirty years before Sir Alex became United manager?

Thought he looked well with Wenger at Old Trafford last week.

Unexpected, but it puts everything into perspective - no matter what you think of him as a manager, all football fans should pray that he recovers well, as he'd be a massive loss to the game for sure.

I’ve read get well messages from the likes of Beckham, Ronaldo, Robson and Giggs and after all this time they still all refer to SAF as the ‘Boss’
