Players who got decent run of games last few seasons, like Gray and Chilwell need to step up big time to provide assists.

I believe we have more than enough fire power upfront with right services given.

There's no team outside the top 6 with two better strikers than Vardy and Iheanacho, that's why it's imperative we have many facets of creativity to cause problems. Even with Mahrez we were too predictable. There's got to be a change of approach but it's understandable we're concerned when we've only bought in Maddison and Pereira who seem to have end product.

We've got the Mahrez goals and assists covered. Really chill man.

I hope we have, Maddison looks a great purchase but we still needed variation in our attacks with Mahrez. I'd like to see another attacking midfielder, Kapustka I'm pinning all my hopes on otherwise.

Chilwell can’t cross a ball so that’s unlikely, unfortunately.

This season is make or break for Gray, if he flops, his career here and probably a top 10 side in the Prem, is over.

Think we are going 3 atb so that explains us not bothering with finding a replacement.

I'm not that worried. Think we have a decent squad.

The way I'm looking at it is like this, yes of course I would feel far more comfortable having Mahrez or a very decent Mahrez replacement in the squad. Don't get me wrong, there is some concern there as we're leaping into the unknown this season. But, with or without we're going to take a hit in terms of assists and goals from his position. So we need to a) look at replacing that from other areas of the pitch and b) fixing our defensive issues so that we're not so dependent on having to score so many to get points.

We conceded 60 goals last, only four teams conceded less than that, but we scored more than anyone outside the top 6. Newcastle finished three points behind and they scored 17 goals LESS than us. That shows that losing those contributions wouldn't be the end of the world, be we need to address the balance elsewhere.

We've signed Evans which fingers crossed will go some way to improving the defence. Whilst we might have lost Mahrez's attacking, I don't think we miss his defending and covering on that side. Fingers crossed midfielders like Iborra and Silva with a full pre-season and having adapted to the country slot in better to the team, helping both shore us up defensively and help in attack. Chillwell with more time under his belt can hopefully improve his defending, and we have young talent like N'didi who will hopefully continue to improve.

In attack, the likes of Silva from CM and Maddison from No.10 will carry a lot of the duties in terms of replacing Mahrez's contribution. But we'll also now have to attacking full backs in Chillwell and Pereira, who can support the wingers properly, not only creating things themselves. But also creating more time and space for Albrighton and Gray.

Sure there are lots of ifs and buts, can old signings step it up, can young players improve, can we sure up the defence etc... but there would be question marks bout a new signing being able to fill his boots as well.

For Evans to slot in and bring us more stability means our captain gets dropped, Maguire goes Utd or we go 3 at the back which I think is our best solution and then the impact of not having Mahrez is possibly less of an immediate problem. We become slightly more defensive, but we operate with 2 strikers in Iheanacho and Vardy with Maddison in a free role. Gray could play alongside Vardy as well on occasions. It seems the obvious and more dynamic way for us to play next season, which means we won't.

Morgan will be getting dropped, whether that's game one or game five... but Evans and Maguire will be starting together soon enough.

I was hoping we could bring in a couple of more players still think we need another CB  and Winger. Problem is I think Puel is now paying the price for the last 2 or even 3 transfer windows when the recruitment team / manager hadn't got a clue what players were worth and brought in some right duds. Hoping Puel can turn it round but we will see at the minute he will have to work with what he's been landed with.

We didn't play 3 at the back in the friendly, played it about for about a combined 90 minutes last season, the manager has never really played it elsewhere. I'd be utterly amazed.

I hope so, a 6-0 hiding vs Man Utd will be just the tonic I imagine.

Just thought of something else to worry about. Maddison's knee.

I'd surprised if a back 3 was our starting formation but it will probably be our plan B, particularly at home against the teams that are sitting back. We'd have to sign another centre back and there doesn't seem much interest in one of those, apart from vague links to Mina. It will it need to be used in the next couple of friendlies, can see maybe Fuchs being a left centre back at home.

3 at the back does make a lot of sense. Its the only way we can get Iheanacho, Vardy and Maddison into the same team unless we play Maddison out wide. Suits our full backs and we can have Silva/Ndidi in the middle.

The only problem we have is when we play it always ends up 5 at the back.

What's up with Maddison's knee?

I'm dreading the United game. Probably not going to have our two best players and they're likely to be replaced by Wes Morgan and Islam Slimani.

I wish more people with concerns would take a leaf out of the writing style of @Ric Flair. Ric, I salute you - you manage to be worried and critical without being divisive and hateful, and I for one really appreciate that.

I thought we did.

Evans Morgan Fuchs

With Elder and Johnson as wing backs. Or?

If we are going with 2 CBs and one will be Morgan then I am certainly now worried.

I'm choosing to look on the positive side of things, we have a strong squad, and some young exciting talent.

GK: Kasper / Ward / Jak

RB: Peraria / Simpson / Amartey

LB: Chilwell / Fuchs

CB: Evans / Morgan

CB: Maguire / Benny

CM: N'didi / Iborra / James

CM: Silva / Mendy / King

Wingers: Gray / Albrighton / Diabate / Musa

ST (10) Maddison / Okazaki / Iheanacho

ST: Vardy / Slimani / Leo

In an ideal world, I'd prefer to get rid of Benny and bring in a better back up. I've like to get rid of two CM's and bring in a better option and I'd like another wide player. But if the wide man doesn't materialise for whatever reason, we have options to shift things about. Whether it's pushing up Peraria who I think started as a winger, moving Maddison out wide and bringing Iheancho in etc as short term solutions.

I have concerns but I always do at this stage of the season

I really dont want to see us playing the possession football the manager had us playing last season. It simply didnt work. I would much prefer the way we played the last two games when he took a step back and let the players decide

Was a 4-4-1-1. Definitely wasn’t a 3 at the back system.

Jakupovic

Johnson, Morgan, Evans, Fuchs

Diabate, Mendy, Choudhury, Elder

Maddison

Gray

Finally a bit of optimism!

Hopefully we can get rid of some of the dead wood and sign a RW, but apart from that I’m feeling positive about next season.

We could line up very similar to how we did in Puel’s first game against Everton:

Schmeichel

Pereira, Maguire, Evans, Fuchs

Silva, Ndidi

Gray, Maddison, Chilwell

Vardy

That line up isn’t the end of the world. Also you missed out Elder, but he will most likely be loaned out anyway.

You surely don't expect to see Morgan starting next season?

I'm scratching my head at how people think we're going with three at the back.

For this we would need another good CB to cover an eventual injury and Puel is not fond of it. We might switch formation during a game but it's highly unlikely that we start in a 3-5-2.

He'll certainly go with a back four, attacking FB and two DM's to protect the CBs, with Maddison in the hole.

Oh right. I couldnt really tell as everyone seemed everywhere.

Whelp, i only felt confident because I thought we were switching a shitty system and would have Iheanacho and Vardy up top.

Pereira as a right midfielder and Amartey at right back would be interesting. But we've waited 2 years for an attacking right back & I don't really wanna see the square pegs in round holes scenario.

Any sane human would drop Morgan for Evans but Puel dropped an in form Dragovic as soon as he could for Morgan and in the process ruined any chance of getting a very good defender on a permanent deal. I'm not convinced he'll drop his captain but until the season starts it's possibly a futile debate as many believe Dragovic didn't play due to refusing to commit to living in Leicester.
