We have a team but the squad lacks depth.   I think we need a lb, a cm, a dm  and a wide player

The 243 midfielders we already have aren't enough for you?

Lacks depth?

One of the prioirities of the summer must be to continue to prune the squad of expensive flops like Slim and Silva and of players who have run their course like King and James.

Why on earth would we need another DM?

Perhaps we could persuade another year out of Fuchs for LB cover.

We need to go all out for Tielemans and if we could get a wide player like Brais Mendez, maybe at the expense of selling Gray, the team would be a thing of beauty.

Che Adams as cover and eventual successor to Vardy?  Nacho goes the other way.

I reckon I've got it sussed,  Easy peasy.

Not a lot wrong with your assessment at all.

In an ideal world we sign Tielemans and a top drawer attacking wide player who is a level above of what we have. An understudy to Chilwell is a must and it depends if BR thinks he can get a tune out of Iheanacho. In an ideal world we'd sell Iheanacho for £15m+ and roll the dice with someone else.

I'd sell Maguire and Gray for the right offer as well. Maguire purely becuse we're overstocked in that area and he would command a fee to fund our spending and Gray because I'm unsure if he'll ever be the player I hoped he would.

Fuchs, Simpson, James, King, Slimani and Okazaki need moving on as they've all run their race here.

Ghezall, iheanacho and Mendy aren't and never will be anything more than squad players so offers are welcome.

I agree, Tielemans and a RW are the last two pieces of the starting 11 but i think the squad itself is where the work is needed.

We NEED another Striker, desperately.

Cover for LB.

Another creative CM as cover for Tielemans.

Add those 3 onto the RW'er and Tielemans and we have some squad.

Then we need to focus on getting rid of some of the dead wood.

Daniel Amartey....where will he fit in given the excellent defensive set up we have at the moment? A chunk toward a decent forward if sold

Hopefully at another club

In an ideal world

Sell or release:

Jakupovic

Simpson

Fuchs

James

King

Slimani

Mendy

Ghezzal

Silva

Iheanacho

Diabate

And buy for the first XI:

Tielemans

A top notch Winger

Also as cover we'll need:

A left back

A striker

And one or possibly two players to cover Maddison and Tielemans

We'll be a serious side if we keep what we've got, get Tielemans permanently and buy an upgrade on Gray.

It's still frustrating that we didn't splash out on Felipe Anderson when we had the chance.

Mendy is definitely a squad player worth keeping.

Wouldn't disagree but if we got a cash offer of about £8m then he's a sell IMO.

We could have had Tadic for virtually the same fee as we paid for Ghezzal:rolleyes:

Does Albrighton have a future here? Admire his effort and work rate/occasional crosses but what else does he offer? Sell for around £15m and invest elsewhere. He's 30 later this year.

Why sell him for less than we sold Iborra?

Still don’t understand the four year deal he signed in January

Would have been worth a punt at that sort of money, I definitely didn't see him kicking on to the sort of level he's at now though.

Another example of Southampton's judgement in the transfer market deserting them.

£15m? Are you being serious?

£10m according to the valuation on Transfermarkt, so not too far off. Ibe went to Bournemouth a few seasons ago for £15m

We also sold Schlupp for £12.5m a couple of seasons ago. Schlupp was younger, but Albrighton is a much better player.

We got great money for Iborra.

I believe you should always take the opportunity to sell players for good money who are only squad players and in their mid to late 20's. Mendy will be 27 when he comes back for pre season training and I would like to see Choudhury take his place as Ndidi's understudy and the player we bring on to consolidate a result.

His contract is up next year so we're in the position that we either have to sell or offer another four year deal or risk him going on a free.

Would like to see him stay as a back up right back! Was class at the start of the season
