I'm reading a Carlo Rovelli book at the moment while semi-simultaneously keeping an eye on FT and arguing with someone on WhatsApp about group boiler maintenance discounts, so the above idea has not received 100% of my attention and may be utterly idiotic.

All they need to do is accurately measure how far a player can travel in one frame and then compensate that distance into the line thickness, or just go back to how it was years ago and say if there’s daylight between the attacker and defenders chest, then you’re offside.

Whats the point of a linesmen raising his flag for offside now we have VAR? It stops attacks that are potentially onside, like the Lacazette one just now which looked very close & probably would have been a certain goal if the flag wasn’t raised. 
 

Can always check for the offside with VAR    after the goals scored
