MC Prussian Posted 24 December 2019 Posted 24 December 2019 Fridays For Future Germany topped it yesterday. Tweeting out "Why are our grandparents still interfering in debates? Won't be making it long, anyway. #christmasandclimatecrisis" Followed by a lame "What can satire do?" The lack of class is evident. And that on Christmas out of all days. Just take note that FFF are dying, it's about time they let Realpolitik speak.

leicsmac Posted 27 December 2019 Posted 27 December 2019 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-50924704 The Chagos matter rolls on. As before, the UK can pretty much ignore whatever ruling the UN makes as it has next to no teeth, but let's not pretend that the UK would be doing so for any other reason than realpolitik and that it's in any way morally square.
leicsmac Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50927648 Well, this is a good step - definitely not going to result in escalation or anything.

The name of the (alleged) whistleblower had been published before. So no confidentiality laws broken on Trump's behalf.

Of course, if said whistle-blower ends up being caused harm because of their identity being compromised, that might change things somewhat (for the agencies that first published as opposed to Trump, that is).
leicsmac Posted 30 December 2019 Posted 30 December 2019 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50938507 Terrible stuff, but could have been much worse. Also featuring arsonist in lamenting increased fires shocker.

Guest Kopfkino Posted 31 December 2019 Posted 31 December 2019 (edited) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50952312 Have been following this story closely due to my own mistreatment by the police in Ayia Napa (punched a few times and mugged but told they weren't interested and accused of lying and being too drunk), and whilst not surprising its been absolutely disgusting, the government should intervene directly imo. Of course, it's hardly much of a surprise that the Cypriot police are bent asf and sexual assault cases in particular are ignored but this shit is shameful. Edited 31 December 2019 by Kopfkino
