Quite like the idea of covid influencing these last dash driver signings, this is massive for him, with the performance already it does seem racing point probably are in shout to be the 2nd fastest car round here.

Crofty made a rare good point on Friday. Obviously with COVID the season is sorta skewed but it would be interesting if they switched them back, maybe after Barcelona and see how they perform. As poor as both were/are in the Red Bull, Albon definitely benefitted from a more competitive car on tracks that traditionally suit the car. Albon is just nowhere near the level required for a top car. If he was binned from the Red Bull programme tomorrow no other team would pick him up. Bit like Kvyat, and Giovanazzi with his Ferrari links

This is why they shouldve put Kvyat in last year imo, was hot off his podium and did way better than those two in the second car when he had a chance and he didnt really have much of a reputation to ruin. If they had done this early 2010s when they had a such a mad and deep youth programme it wouldve made more sense. I'd probably switch them tbh, Albon shouldn't have any excuses for being this bad at this stage and its probably worth a roll of the dice.

Especially given it was known that Hamilton's tyres were blistering.

 

Bottas, Sainz, Kimi, Hamilton all suffered left-front tyre damage.

Looked back at that Albon moment again.  It's the sort of move you'd attempt to make on a console racer  knowing full well you're taking out another car with minimal risk to your own. 

 

The guy looks out of his depth to me.  Norris would do a better job in that car.
