Any news on whether the likes of Fuchs, James and Mendy have signed at least short term contract extensions until the end of the season? I see Morgan is signed for a millionth season.

Matty James is still contracted for another season at least, maybe two seasons?

He'll probably soon be asking his Agent to start up negotiations for another extension.

The club have until June 23 to sort short-term extensions for:

Mendy

Jakupovic

Fuchs

Morgan

Bennett (a loan extension to be agreed with Wolves)

Viktor Johansson and Dennis Gyamfi are part of the 29/30 man squad that have returned to training, and they too are also out of contract so the same applies to them.

James contract doesn't finish until 2022

It's 2021. Signed a four-year contract in August 2017.

I'd have thought Fuchs would want to sign a short extension at least. He'll want to chance finish his time here properly surely.

I wouldn't worry about Jakupovic or indeed Bennett but be good to get the others sorted

Might need Bennett if Rodgers is planning on playing 3 at the back. With 1 injury we'd be ****ed.

Fuchs may have had a plan to leave at the end of this season, but perhaps the thought of a final year in the champions league is too hard for him to turn down.

Doesn’t appear to be yet, I imagine James will sign a new contract on pay as you play or player/coaching role but Fuchs and Mendy might already have plans to be off anyway. Hope they stay until end of season but I imagine the club will be relaxed about it and already know if they are/aren’t.

So he’ll be here for free then?

Such a shame for James. Every manager we’ve had here since he’s been with us has seen what a quality player is and obviously wants him around the club but time and time again his body lets him down.

Could have had a great career

So many good footballers end up with just reoccurring injuries.... Jamie Redknapp, Michael Owen (thankfully Owen played from a real young age). Ronaldo and Van Basten, though still truly among the greatest players ever, should have played much more than they did. Sad.

I don't doubt James' ability and he will always be remembered here. But to keep giving him contracts doesn't make sense, especially the 4 or 5 year one.
