Time definitely flies by faster as you get older. Good luck with your son's future, buddy, any idea what he wants to do for the next few years yet - a levels, college, uni, apprenticeship etc.

Thanks  appreciate that 🙂he is going to go college next to do physics chemistry and history but then isn’t to sure what to do after but he has a bit of time to think it over .
yeah definitely feel the older I am getting the quicker it goes. My daughter have 3 years left now and my youngest is in his last year of primary school next year which is also crazy. Sometime me especially will wish for time to fly in the week while your at work to get home and before you know it another year has gone by 🙈

Also, genuine question - but given that human brains are wired for pain as a defence mechanism to make you stop doing things - then why, from an evolutionary point if view, is that small pang of pain you get when you pull out a nose hair with a pair of tweezers so immensely satisfying and one of life's great small pleasures?

A small amount of pain that isn't considered too uncomfortable can often be deemed pleasurable. Just look at all the fetishes out there.

My guess is because it wakes the sympathetic nervous system up suddenly enough to be stimulating and produce small amounts of hormones like adrenaline and endorphins. But not with enough intensity to signal the brain too much pain to induce a negative response like "fight or flight" or fear of repetition.

Perhaps because in some cases, the pain and pleasure reactions in the brain get crossed over?

Just goes to show the evolutionary process is far from perfect. See also; giraffes.

Giraffes pluck their nasal hair. I never cease to be amazed by the things I learn on this forum :D

Malt loaf is the business. A bakery in my local town does their own which is AAA standard.

They eat it with cheese up here.

Do you live on the moon?

Lidl malt loaf is superior to its branded alternative. I'm not heavy handed, I have the delicate hands of a pianist, but too many times I've had squishy Soreen that's a bugger to slice without squashing it. Not any more

No. Sorry miquel but no.

You just need a decent shape serrated knife and it'll go through soreen without squashing it

Just wondering what folks thoughts on social media and detoxing from it are.

Ive ditched all of it apart from insta but still found I'd spend hours on it scrolling through rubbish. Ive put a time lock on it now for 45 mins a day. Just any tips to share for others thinking the same really. I do find ive more time for my hobbies just sometimes need to push myself to start them then I get into the groove and forget about social media ect.

I don't think I've ever scrolled through Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok or any of those nonsense platforms ever.

I usually take a look at Facebook every day as that connects me with certain friends, groups and activities. And I stopped using Twitter once it became X. I very occasionally look on there for football news/transfer rumours but that's it.

It's much better to have one or two that you look at now and again rather than obsessing over one or all of them. If you want to stop using any of them then just change your passwords to something you'll easily forget and log out. Then once you lose access to them the hassle of getting back in will put you off any way.

Caroline flacks brother has been found dead - doesn’t sound good and found unresponsive, feel for their parents if he has died in similar circumstances.

Sadly

A provisional post mortem found his cause of death to be cardiac arrest due to hanging. The inquest was opened yesterday at Norfolk Coroner’s Court and will be held on October 23.

Are you saying John Lydon isn't the Boss?

For shame!

I just went for a Brucie bonus as I thought Born in the USA might be more readily recognised that Anarchy in the UK.

You say UK, but what you mean is Scotland.

Give them a referendum quick!
